Sailfeed is a native Nextcloud News client for Sailfish OS using libfuoten

Sailfeed was built as a personal project after moving partly from Android to Sailfish OS, aiming to keep RSS feeds seamlessly in sync across both platforms using Nextcloud News and libfuoten.

Built around my daily reading needs: one-handed operation, "snappy" one-handed scrolling of the article list, fast auto-read status, and clean distraction-free pages.

After using it daily for quite some time, I now want to share the app with anyone in the community who may also find it useful.

Features:

  • Article list & preview: Grouped by date, optional page-wise scrolling, greyed out read articles, swipe preview.
  • Reader mode: Based on Readability.js, strips ads and overlays, customizable font/colors/spacing, preloads pages. Font and reader settings are stored per Feed
  • Feed management: Folders, feeds with favicons/unread counts, add via clipboard, rename/move/delete.
  • One-handed usage: Bottom mark-as-read button, swipe gestures, quick action bar in reader mode with next/prev and font size toggles
  • Offline queue: Read and bookmark changes are stored offline and synced when connected.
  • Settings backup: Auto-backs up settings and favorites with Nextcloud Files.
  • Native integration: cover actions, Sailjail sandboxing, Sailfish Secrets for app passwords.

Requirements
A Nextcloud server with the Nextcloud News app installed.
"Offline mode" without use of Nextcloud News is planned for future releases

Use of AI
