  • - before: loading a folder with 5000 images (sorted by modification time) took ~5 seconds, moving/deleting 1 file took ~8 seconds; with times climbing exponentially

ichthyosaurus's picture

I can't test anything other than latest Saifish X. Can you describe the problem in detail?

konstan's picture

On Gemini PDA (Sailfish X 3.4). After starting File browser it is turn 90 deg. to the right (can not insert screenshot here, sorry). I must swipe it vertically and then is FB in right position.

Edit: The same result is on Xperia X; a) rotate it 90 deg. to the right; b) pull app grid from left to right; start File Browser

ichthyosaurus's picture

Oh, horizontal mode... Yes, that's still not quite working and it seems to be caused by the system. (Maybe it would cause less confusion if I just disabled it for now.)

konstan's picture

Anything new on this? I can't use File Browser on the Gemini PDA at all, because this device is horizontal with rotation disabled. The File Browser will appear in an unusable state when launched, and even if I force it to display something, no application on the file (eg .rpm, ...) can be launched, only the clock / rotating circle will be displayed. Is it possible to fix it, please?

ichthyosaurus's picture

Fixed in 2.4.3.

> only the clock / rotating circle will be displayed

I don't quite understand what you mean by this, but it should work now anyways.

Please keep in mind that I'm the only person developing this project* (in my free time, of course) and that the main problem is most certainly a bug in Jolla's "page stack" code. You're lucky I found a way around this (today after ~2 years). I'm not sure if this is/was a regression from version 1.8.0 but downgrading is always an option, too.

* I'm very thankful for all the great contributions of the growing group of translators, and for any other contributions!

ferlanero's picture

Thank you very much for this awesome release! This file manager is really useful right now!

Malakay's picture

Ah, thats the point :D I was wondering if its necessary to enable or disable thumbs for every folder separately or if it has some ''global'' setting :D thanks a lot :)

ichthyosaurus's picture

I should implement “interaction hints” to help people discover all features...

Malakay's picture

Xperia X by the way

Malakay's picture

I mean this default screen after launch :)
https://ibb.co/3WqJYcc

ichthyosaurus's picture

Oh, I see, you have thumbnails enabled. That's probably the default setting, I'm not sure. If you disable thumbnails the icons will become tiny, just like in the second screenshot here on Openrepos.
To do that, select “view preferences” from the top menu and select “none” below “thumbnails” (instead of small or medium). To disable thumbnails by default for all folders, swipe right from the view preferences page (you'll come to the settings page with license info at the bottom) and deselect “show thumbnails” in the “view” section. You can then re-enable thumbnails on a per-folder basis.
I'd recommend everyone to get familiar with the settings (per folder, global) to get the best experience :). You can also disable per-folder preferences in the global settings.

Malakay's picture

Oh and by the way, it runs completely smoothly, more smoother than old version :)

Malakay's picture

Hi Ichthyosaurus, great work with this :) im glad that someone continues maintaining kari´s file browser, new features at last :) one thing - could be possible to add an option to make folder icons smaller, to see more folder on my display? It could be small, medium and large icons maybe? Everyone can make his pick :)

ichthyosaurus's picture

Thank you, glad you like it :). I think the icons are already pretty small - can you upload a screenshot so I can see what you mean? What size is your screen? ... And then there's the “view preferences” which you can reach from the top pulley menu.

murfik's picture

If i use beta version, i'm want jump to this version?

ichthyosaurus's picture

This version is an update to the last beta version. You can simply install this version and then uninstall the old beta one.
See the changelog and the comment above: https://openrepos.net/comment/36176#comment-36176

nephros's picture

You are probably aware, but still I wnat to share this hint just in case you're not:

If you specify an `Obsoletes: foo` key in the spec/yaml, the package manager will uninstall the e.g. beta version when installing the stable one. spectacle (surprisingly) doesn't even complain about it.

ichthyosaurus's picture

Thank you, yes, I tried that. The problem was that spectacle did complain (I think because I put it in the yaml...) and it also broke installation via the file manager. It seemed like "obsoletes" was being treated the same as "conflicts". I didn't want to risk uploading a package that might simply fail to install when updating.

mja's picture

Hey,

thank you for your work!!!

I have a problem.
Only with the RootVersion can I see .zip, .apk and .rpm.

ichthyosaurus's picture

Glad you like it :)

But I don't quite understand the problem. Do you mean files with these suffixes don't show up in folder listings? Like "foobar.zip" would be missing even though the file exists?

Or do you mean the content preview? (Tapping on a file and then swiping right to the preview page...)

ichthyosaurus's picture

Version 2.4.0 is the first non-beta release.

  • Configuration is now stored at ~/.config/harbour-file-browser. Copy your beta configuration from ~/.config/harbour-file-browser-beta to keep custom shortcuts.
  • You can safely remove the folder ~/.local/share/harbour-file-browser-beta.

You will have to manually remove the old package harbour-file-browser-beta (via the launcher or using the package manager) and install the updated package named harbour-file-browser.

An update to the version in Jolla store is currently in QA.

TrulloF's picture

Thanks for fixing it. It's the best file manager for me on SFOS.

ichthyosaurus's picture

That's nice to hear :)! Version 2.4.0 contains the fix.

ferlanero's picture

Awesome app. Thanks!

ichthyosaurus's picture

Glad you like it :).

TrulloF's picture

going back to previous folder while browsing sd card doesn't work anymore in the new version.
It only happens when using the "old" swipe gesture to get back to previous sd card folders.
Using the new navigation menu works as intended.

ichthyosaurus's picture

Thank you for reporting! I fixed it in the next (upcoming) version which I'll hopefully release in the next few days. (Until then you can safely use the navigation menu.) The bug was caused by a broken regular expression and only affects folders with certain characters in their names.

veeall's picture

Ok, my wrong, or minor bug? I did this: long press on a file, tap trash icon, swipe away the remorse bar - item vanishes, but coming back to the folder it is still there.

ichthyosaurus's picture

No, my wrong, sorry! Selecting a file and then deleting it works fine, also deleting from the file page. Deleting from the context menu (long press) fails.

I'll fix it asap, but until then you can use the two other methods that work fine :).

veeall's picture

Doesn't delete at all.
