Any possibility to have 'search' in the top menu instead? (the bottom menu is intended for rarely used commands. I use search a lot)

After upgrade to 4.4.0.58 lots of things are not working any more.
If going to "/home/defaultuser/.local/share" on my phone I can see only 3 folders. When using the Terminal I can see more than 50 folders.
If I use File Browser 2.4.3 I can browse to my SD card. When using File Browser 2.5.0 it is not possible to browse/open the SD card. No privilege rights.
I have a XA2.

EDIT: This has been fixed in version 2.5.1.
------------------------
Are you saying version 2.4.3 works on 4.4 but version 2.5.0 does not? That is really unexpected.
Please check that there is this in /usr/share/applications/harbour-file-browser.desktop:
[X-Sailjail]
Sandbox=Disabled
Can you post logs?

Hei
After upgrade to 2.5.1 every things works ☺
What I meant was not that 2.4.3 worked on 4.4, only that 2.4.3 was able to browse my SD-card and 2.5.0 was not ☺

Hey @ichthyosaurus,
thanks for your continued support for this file manager, that is great and the only feature-rich one for Sailfish OS, that didn't got abandoned. I am still missing the following feautures though:
1. A setting to directly display/play media files (videos, images) after clicking on them instead of showing the file details/properties
2. Video controls for videos to enable seeking
It would be awesome if you could find some time to implement this features. :)

Thanks, glad you like it :).
1. That is planned but is harder to implement than I thought. So it's rather low-priority on my to do list but I'd gladly accept pull requests.
2. I'm not sure if I want to implement this anytime soon. I see the benefits but I don't want to raise any expectations. The feature is not meant as a media player but rather as a advanced preview.

Thanks for reporting. Sadly, that's known and expected, as I don't have any capacity at the moment to update File Browser for breaking changes in SFOS 4. I'm personally still using 3.4 because I don't have the time to deal with the fallout of upgrading.
To keep backwards compatibility for as long as possible, I'd need to find a solution that works on 3.x and 4.x.
I'd greatly appreciate any help :). The same goes for Sailjail, which will probably break File Browser altogether in SFOS 4.4.

This is how I added support for out-of-process sharing:

and this protects against sandboxing:

Hope it helps!

It would be great if creating a starter on the app grid for documents would be possible some day, like it's possible for weblinks in browser.

Could you make it remember 'show hidden' globally? You basically have to enable it for each directory, and re-enable each time you use it...

That's already possible: swipe right to get to the global app settings. There you can enable "show hidden" by default, and you can disable folder-specific settings.

I'm surprised root mode works at all on SFOS 4... Maybe you're trying to access "privileged" folders? IIRC that's either not possible or error prone. I think someone once reported problems with that.

Tap the file icon to select a file. Any other file entry you tap now will be added to the selection.
You can also select a range at once: press and hold the file icon, then tap the last file you want to select - all files in between will be selected.
