For about a month videos are not playing :( API-Key is in place. Search works, thumbnails shown, but video does not play. Spinning wheel when play button pressed. (XA2, 4.01.45 same under 3.4...)

I know this sucks. I went through the process of getting a api key. It took a while and i had to watch a couple YT videos oh how to do it, but i did it and it'll make the app work better. BUT NOW , i think im going to do a search online and see if i can just borrow someone elses key, because yes, google still has by video browsing history attached to my google ID.

Now google's api key is super limited. Like… you can do max 100 searches per day not including watching videos etc. i don't have the money to pay google for its api key unfortunately. In youtube alternative apps for example app for kodi, people use own api key for ages. Minitube on arch comes without api key even

Do you know NewPipe? It's an Android App and they say they parse the YouTube website but maybe this project is worth having a look at: https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe
As they circumvent the API altogether, this could be a solution for Microtube as well. That is, if the implementation isn't too involved (haven't looked at the source)

Not really sir, youtube is kinda broken when it comes to those standards stream, some work some doesn't and untill i get DASH working which will allow all resolutions (all as in all) then i don't think there is any fix to that

Yeah, sadly something has been broken for a while. Until last night i didnt understand or know how to put the API key in and havent been using my favorite app here on sailfish os. Well after putting in a API per the recent instructions, i'm no longer anonymously using YouTube which was a major benefit of this sailfish os app. But i get it now that i researched what API do and how they work for app development. Doesn't help with privacy and google, but it gets your app working. This is that was fixed by going through the process with googl3 cloud services to the API solved the playback issue I'd been having for over a month. It was fixed for about an hour of viewing with my newly acquired API v3 Key. But after returning to the app the next day, the same dreaded " CHECK INTERNET CONNECTION " where the only way to get videos to play is to close the app and start it again in order to play one video. Then repeat for every video, close, re open app, watch one video under my subscription, and repeat the process. The good thing is that my subscription list was update from upload date posted a month ago, to recently upload as of today's/ the current date. Now as of this evening, i cant get Trending videos to show or my subscription list to load a single video without the CHECK INTERNET CONNECTION on the screen. i have reinstalled it, refreshed cache, and installed it again via the desktop 7.rpm file. Not loading any videos at all now.
