Fernschreiber is a Telegram client for Salifish OS
Fernschreiber (German for teleprinter, teletypewriter, teletype or TTY) connects you with the Telegram network. It's still in an early development phase, but it already supports many of the most popular features such as:
Have fun with Fernschreiber!
Older SFOS Releases
Devices like the Jolla Phone don't support the latest SFOS version. Users who can't install the latest version from this page, please try: https://openrepos.net/content/werkwolfoldschool/fernschreiber-jolla-phon...

Seems that Telegram is now enforcing a not-yet-officially-released version of TDLib for newly logged in users, see https://github.com/tdlib/td/issues/1758. I'll check and see how fast Fernschreiber can be updated to be able to login again.

Hi, I've been using Fernschreiber for like 6months, all without any major problems or anything. (except one time when one of my friends deleted his telegram account and upon opening the app, I recieve an invalid file identifier error and 2 ghost notifications) But now, the app won't even launches, it crashes on startup. Tried rebooting, reinstalling, restarting the home screen and all apps but nothing works. Do you know what this is, or maybe how can I fix it? Maybe deleting the app data aswell could fix it, I have no idea to be honest.

Hello, do you plan to integrate Fernschreiber with the new share menu from SFOS 4?

Install it again, go to settings -> behavior -> uncheck "open with menu integration" and uninstall again. Then the entry should be gone. Most certainly these issues will be gone with Fernschreiber 0.10 and SFOS 4.3 and later...

Okay, installs now but doesn't start up (4.3.0.12)
Edit: 0.10.1 solved the problem - works fine! Thanks a lot as it is my most used SFOS app ;-))

Would be interested in some more details. Which device are you using? Moreover, if you have developer mode installed, please try opening from command-line: /usr/bin/harbour-fernschreiber
If it still doesn't start, please create an issue with the error message: https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues

That's expected, 4.3 comes with a major compatibility breakage.

It's 4.2.0.21. Other than that small bug I've described, I'm using it without any issues as well.

Yeah. The same for me. Whenever I try to open any URL through this app it becomes very laggy and I have to kill it via SSH or restart the device with buttons.
Edit 2: when I unticked the option "Open-with menu integration" It fixed the issue by opening links in the browser instead of opening links in an app.
Edit: this is one of the errors that were shown in terminal -
[W] unknown:140 - file:///usr/share/harbour-fernschreiber/qml/pages/OverviewPage.qml:140: Error: Cannot assign void* to QString

Somehow, URL links from e-mails get opened in Fernschreiber and the app gets into an infinite UI loop: when minimizing it or opening top drawer/notifications the app pops up again immediately (had to kill via SSH).
Also: low FPS
Also: opening URLs from chat using button doesn't work.
Also: can tag any person in a group chat, which is different from official app and causes a UI lag searching through entire list of contacts.

One of my friends deleted his account and I always get some random notification but I cannot open it, or delete the chat. Is there any fix to this problem?

Try long-tap on the entry and choose "Mark chat as read". If this doesn't solve the problem, please open an issue describing the error on https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues

Great app, running very smooth on my partners XA2. We looked at a few telegram options and this is the best for us.
Just one question. She's not receiving notifications from messages I send to her unless the app is open in a window, is this expected behaiour, or should she be able to receive notifications from the app running in the background without the app open and running on her device?

That's actually an expected behavior. We've had some discussions regarding a daemon, see https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues/21 As a daemon is not officially supported in the Jolla Store and there is also no dedicated support for showing on the UI that a background application is running, this is not implemented yet. So please keep the app in the background - the cover is actuall really useful. ;)

It would be great to add a cover action to enable / disable notifications.
