Fernschreiber is a Telegram client for Salifish OS

Fernschreiber (German for teleprinter, teletypewriter, teletype or TTY) connects you with the Telegram network. It's still in an early development phase, but it already supports many of the most popular features such as:

  • Chat list in order of last received message
  • Two-step authentication
  • Read standard text messages, pictures, videos. animated GIFs, animated and non-animated stickers, voice notes, locations, venues, polls and documents
  • Displays web page previews
  • Send text messages, stickers, reply to messages, attachments: images, videos, documents, polls, voice notes, locations (yes, more to come ;))
  • Edit messages
  • Delete messages
  • Search chats and messages
  • Display sent/read state of messages
  • Notifications
  • Contact support and device contacts synchronization
  • Secret chats
  • Mute/unmute chats

  • @-mentioning support, use @<username> in the message field to search!

Yeah. The same for me. Whenever I try to open any URL through this app it becomes very laggy and I have to kill it via SSH or restart the device with buttons.

 

Edit 2: when I unticked the option "Open-with menu integration" It fixed the issue by opening links in the browser instead of opening links in an app.

 

Edit: this is one of the errors that were shown in terminal -

[W] unknown:140 - file:///usr/share/harbour-fernschreiber/qml/pages/OverviewPage.qml:140: Error: Cannot assign void* to QString

Somehow, URL links from e-mails get opened in Fernschreiber and the app gets into an infinite UI loop: when minimizing it or opening top drawer/notifications the app pops up again immediately (had to kill via SSH).
Also: low FPS
Also: opening URLs from chat using button doesn't work.
Also: can tag any person in a group chat, which is different from official app and causes a UI lag searching through entire list of contacts.

One of my friends deleted his account and I always get some random notification but I cannot open it, or delete the chat. Is there any fix to this problem?

Try long-tap on the entry and choose "Mark chat as read". If this doesn't solve the problem, please open an issue describing the error on https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues

Great app, running very smooth on my partners XA2.  We looked at a few telegram options and this is the best for us.  
Just one question.  She's not receiving notifications from messages I send to her unless the app is open in a window, is this expected behaiour, or should she be able to receive notifications from the app running in the background without the app open and running on her device?

That's actually an expected behavior. We've had some discussions regarding a daemon, see https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues/21 As a daemon is not officially supported in the Jolla Store and there is also no dedicated support for showing on the UI that a background application is running, this is not implemented yet. So please keep the app in the background - the cover is actuall really useful. ;)

Moin Sebastian. Ich habe ein Problem mit Fernschreiber unter 4.0.1.48 und benötige Ihre Hilfe.
Choosing 'Neuer Chat' results in 'Sie haben keine Kontakte'. How can i choose an entry from my contactlist?
Another issue is, that there are notifications, that someone wrote, but there is only one chat named 'undefined' without content.

No idea about the "undefined" chat (maybe try a logoff/login), but the contact sync is no longer working in SFOS 4. I hope, Jolla will make the contacts available again to 3rd-party developers.

Days ago Jolla did the next step with Koli 4.0.1.48. Something happend so i can see my contacts in Whisperfish (as a 3rd party app). But Fernschreiber doesn't like to add new chats (by missing contacts). Is there an workauround? Best regards!

One thing keeps bothering me, in front of my messages it says "you" and not "I". I would not allow the app to have its own person, it should reflect what is happening from my point of view.

That being said, I have nothing but praise for the app. It works great and is constantly being developed. The translations are also good, except for the problem of not communicating from the first person perspective.
