64-bit only (Sony Xperia 10 ii and Pinephone); the 32-bit version is great as it is.

Sorry, guys - I messsed up the relative links. I installed 64-bit Sailfish on my Pinephone yesterday and tried to follow my own advice.

This actually works - if you followed my faulty advice use ln -sfn instead of ln -s (-sfn redirects the link, -s tries to create a new one and fails if you donẗ't delete the faulty links with rm):

devel-su
cd /usr/share/harbour-meecast
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/buttons_icons /usr/share/buttons_icons
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/db /usr/share/db
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/html /usr/share/html
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/iconsets /usr/share/iconsets
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/images /usr/share/images
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/qml /usr/share/qml
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/sources /usr/share/sources
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/xsd /usr/share/xsd

* * *

You can check if it worked:
ls -l /usr/share | grep meecast

The output should look something like this:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 Jun 27 15:17 buttons_icons -> harbour-meecast/buttons_icons lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Jun 27 15:20 db -> harbour-meecast/db
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Jun 27 08:07 harbour-meecast
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jun 27 15:18 html -> harbour-meecast/html
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Jun 27 15:14 iconsets -> harbour-meecast/iconsets
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jun 27 15:16 images -> harbour-meecast/images
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 27 15:16 qml -> harbour-meecast/qml
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 15:20 sources -> harbour-meecast/sources
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 27 15:19 xsd -> harbour-meecast/xsd

* * * Foreca, FMI and Yr.no are reliable, OpenWeatherMap isn't.

* * *

This is relevant only to developers:

Changing the path in

~/.config/harbour-meecast/config.xml

 <base>/usr/share/</base>

to  <base>/usr/share/harbour-meecast</base>

won't help because it gets overwritten almost immediately, and MeeCast won't start if config.xml isn't writable. I believe config.xml is meant to override the default - some users might want to use ~/.local/share/harbour-meecast - not the other way round.

The /usr/share/harbour-meecast/lib directory is referenced in config.xml but missing.
<converter>/usr/share/harbour-meecast/lib//opt/com.meecast.omweather/lib/fmifi</converter>

Works for me (XZ2c)... Thanks

janssoni's picture

I did this but it doesn't seem to work. Not any services can be seen when trying to add location.

Ahti30708's picture

I fixed my post. Sorry it took so long.

kan's picture

ln -s buttons_icons ../

should be

ln -s ./harbour-meecast/buttons_icons ../

and so on.

delocoyo's picture

How to do that?

Thanks for providing a 64 bit version but no weather sources are available. "Select the weather source" is shown but no options to select one.

Same issue

vasvlad's picture

Hi.

I have no any free time.  Could you please show me a link on how to install 64-bit SailfishOS in an emulator to investigate this issue.

BR,

Vlad.

delocoyo's picture

Hei. Could be check out meecast and update? It will so appreciated. I have been working it around but still doesnt get to get places from yr, openweather. Using 4.2 in a X10 II

TMavica's picture

Sorry i dont know, but there is some info in forum

levone1's picture

Just me, or does neither the lock screen nor the events widget work on 4.0? They were both working for me until update...

TMavica's picture

Can u build a 64 bit package?

vasvlad's picture

Done. Try it.

TMavica's picture

I cant see any source in settings, the page is dark, but other page is not

vasvlad's picture

I'll try to do it.

Hey thanks for this nice app. I would love to ask to add wind information on the hourly screens. Speed and direction arrow would suffise. The wind information is available but not shown. Its used in daily weather anyhow.

I might even be able to help with a PR if you guide me to the right direction in the source.

vasvlad's picture

Hi. Can your draw the design of this page?

yusssufff's picture

Hello! Thanks for a great app! One thing about the MeeCast icon set: a cloud with 3 drops is rain, but a cloud with 5 drops is showers/ light rain? Isnt the icon with 5 drops missing a sun behind?

It seems the icon for heavy rain (5drops) is the same used for rain showers (that would in theory need a sun behind as most other icon set (eg glance) do in the app...

vasvlad's picture

Hi.

The icon is selected using the number (N) from the weather forecast data.  See it https://github.com/Meecast/meecast/wiki/Iconsets

Br,

Vlad

yusssufff's picture

thanks for the link!
Well the number 12 Heavy Rain (5 drops) is same with number 39 Scattered rain...
I think number 39 better be with a sun behind...
Exactly same issue for Scattered snow (41) better have sun behind...

glanternier's picture

Hello, would you be able to add maritime weather network among the sources such as Meteo Marine for example?

vasvlad's picture

Hi.

I don't have any free time for it. :(

skyjumper's picture

Hi Vlad,

Sorry to say this is still happening. Right now it's Thursday morning 3/9/2020 in Melb Australia, but the app is still showing data for Wednesday. The current observations match real time.

Can you have a look at it? I am using Bureau of Meterology data (BOM).

vasvlad's picture

Hi,

I just checked  this issue and can't confirm it.

Vlad.

skyjumper's picture

Hi Vlad,

Unfortunately now, the weather and dates don't match. I am seeing on Meecast - lastest version of SFOS too, 31 and 12 for Friday 13 Nov, whereas on the BOM page, this is forecast for Sunday 15 Nov. The temperatures are correct, just for the wrong days.
My time and date are correct too. I removed, deleted location data from cmd line and re-added. Same issue.

skyjumper's picture

This has now been fixed with latest release - 1.1.35-1

Thanks!
