I'm going to explore this problem ASAP.

Thanks for this nice GEM!

HKO not working

explit's picture

Thanks for the update! But eventsview widget for 64bit would also be great!
I could install daemon and eventsview widget from another repo, but it seems not to work on Sailfish 4.5 and ARM64
Update: Problem solved: Installed all packages from your Github Repo.

Malakay's picture

How to add widget to events view instead of sailfish weather? I downloaded package but cant find widget anywhere :(

vasvlad's picture

Try to remove default weather application from device and install events package.

Malakay's picture

Now I tried to uninstall Sailfish Weather, remove Meecast packages and I will try to reinstall after reboot

So I reinstalled, went back to event settings and after ticking Weather its working, thanks :)

Malakay's picture

Default app is Sailfish weather. I removed its widget from event screen and installed meecast events package, but I can´t see it in event screen settings.

vasvlad's picture

What is version of Sailfish are you using?

Show me the result of  the command:

rpm -qa|grep meecast

in terminal.

My output is for example:

[nemo@Sailfish ~]$ rpm -qa|grep meecast
harbour-meecast-1.1.34-1.armv7hl
harbour-meecast-lockscreen-0.5-1.armv7hl
harbour-meecast-event-1.1-1.armv7hl
harbour-meecast-daemon-1.9-1.armv7hl

Malakay's picture

Thanks vasvlad, it is working. I uninstalled Sailfish Weather and reinstalled meecast event. And when I went back to event settings and ticked Weather, now its meecast widget shown. I thought that meecast widget will be visible separately in event settings, but it replaces Sailfish weather in "Weather" widget. So that was shy I didn´t see it. So I can confirm that it works on 4.5. And one more thing - is some solution for clicking widget and running meecast app?

vasvlad's picture

Please, try long tapping on weather widget. On my old Jolla phone it works.

Malakay's picture

yeah, thanks :) long tap works :)

247's picture

Just tap blindly where the delete button was, it's still there but invisible

Anyway gps does not work, as it's giving me always a very far (and wrong) position...

pvcn's picture

I can't delete locations anymore - the icon behind the locations disappeared. anyone with the sane problem?

vasvlad's picture

can you send me your config file for MeeCast?

pvcn's picture

Locations have disappeared again after update to Sailfish 4.4. (Xperia 10II) Fix via Terminal posted above for 64Bit-Version doesn't solve it. Anyone with the same problem or an idea?

kan's picture

Disabling Sailjail in .desktop file fixes this issue.

echo -e '\n[X-Sailjail]\nSandboxing=Disabled' >> /usr/share/applications/harbour-meecast.desktop

pvcn's picture

Thanks a lot for your help, it worked! :-)

M_Bln's picture

Why does it need Camera and Microphon access?

Qleg's picture

Vlad, hello!

Gismeteo don't work again.

rdomschk's picture

Hello now it works on 64bit - Thanks Ahti30708  for the info with the new links! For all users - you need only start in terminal follow lines:

devel-su + password
cd /usr/share/harbour-meecast
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/buttons_icons /usr/share/buttons_icons
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/db /usr/share/db
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/html /usr/share/html
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/iconsets /usr/share/iconsets
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/ images /usr/share/images
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/qml /usr/share/qml
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/sources /usr/share/sources
ln -s /usr /share/harbour-meecast/xsd /usr/share/xsd

add location + close meecast + restart meecast + it works perfect

delocoyo's picture

Imposible to add aplace

GPS location doesn't work fine. If I moved to other location, it doesn't updated. Other app, such as Nightly Clock https://openrepos.net/content/allstar12345/nightly-clock, update location fine

gncobben's picture

Missing my location in openweathermap locations.
It is impossible to select Rotterdam because the “Provincie Zuidholland” is missing from the list for locations in The Netherlands. After using Meecast for many years (from N9 to Xperia10 ;-) it makes me sad.

ade's picture

There are alternative apps like https://openrepos.net/content/ade/welkweer for the Netherlands or you must select other weather sources in MeeCast.
But if you insist on using MeeCast along with openweathermap as a source, Zuid-Holland indeed has been wiped off the map ;-)

Ahti30708's picture

64-bit only (Sony Xperia 10 ii and Pinephone); the 32-bit version is great as it is.

Sorry, guys - I messsed up the relative links. I installed 64-bit Sailfish on my Pinephone yesterday and tried to follow my own advice.

This actually works - if you followed my faulty advice use ln -sfn instead of ln -s (-sfn redirects the link, -s tries to create a new one and fails if you donẗ't delete the faulty links with rm):

devel-su
cd /usr/share/harbour-meecast
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/buttons_icons /usr/share/buttons_icons
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/db /usr/share/db
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/html /usr/share/html
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/iconsets /usr/share/iconsets
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/images /usr/share/images
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/qml /usr/share/qml
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/sources /usr/share/sources
ln -s /usr/share/harbour-meecast/xsd /usr/share/xsd

* * *

You can check if it worked:
ls -l /usr/share | grep meecast

The output should look something like this:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 Jun 27 15:17 buttons_icons -> harbour-meecast/buttons_icons lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Jun 27 15:20 db -> harbour-meecast/db
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Jun 27 08:07 harbour-meecast
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jun 27 15:18 html -> harbour-meecast/html
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Jun 27 15:14 iconsets -> harbour-meecast/iconsets
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jun 27 15:16 images -> harbour-meecast/images
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 27 15:16 qml -> harbour-meecast/qml
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 15:20 sources -> harbour-meecast/sources
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 27 15:19 xsd -> harbour-meecast/xsd

* * * Foreca, FMI and Yr.no are reliable, OpenWeatherMap isn't.

* * *

This is relevant only to developers:

Changing the path in

~/.config/harbour-meecast/config.xml

 <base>/usr/share/</base>

to  <base>/usr/share/harbour-meecast</base>

won't help because it gets overwritten almost immediately, and MeeCast won't start if config.xml isn't writable. I believe config.xml is meant to override the default - some users might want to use ~/.local/share/harbour-meecast - not the other way round.

The /usr/share/harbour-meecast/lib directory is referenced in config.xml but missing.
<converter>/usr/share/harbour-meecast/lib//opt/com.meecast.omweather/lib/fmifi</converter>

I did this but it doesn't seem to work. Not any services can be seen when trying to add location.
