This is a midlet (micro edition java application). It's from Opera software but no more downloadable from their site.

Please, first of all, install "PhoneMe (Java VM)" on your n9.

Here is a possible installation procedure (requires root access) :

- remove the .deb extension and unzip

- copy opera-mini-8.0.35626-advanced-en-us.jar (and .jad) into /opt/phoneme

- copy operamini.png into /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps

- copy operamini.desktop into /usr/share/applications

- chmod +x operamini.desktop.

NB: edit the operamini.desktop if you want to change the targeted folder (/opt/phoneme is just an example, you may choose another one of your choice).

Opera Mini works in a client/server way with an Opera "proxy" server in the middle (between you and the site). The Web Pages are not running on your N9 but on the Opera proxy server. This server will then send the final result to your N9.

I dont have my N9 with me, but if I remember well first I activated Developer Mode (in System Setting, Security). Second, I ran N9 QTweak and changed the root password (default is rootme) : H then 1 then 5 (I suggest rootme :-)

I hope it will work.

I suggest you to install N9 QTweak and use it for getting a root access.

Another solution : unzip the files of OperaMini into a dedicated sub directory of /MyDocs; then run the "Run Midlet" utility (utility of PhoneMe). This utility can run any Midlet located somewhere in /MyDocs.
