lxmx's picture

Wow, what a big release! The replied-to message view in the dark popup is very cool and useful! If only there was a search function (I know there is a feature request for it already :))

vbelloir's picture

Thanks for this big update !

yusssufff's picture

Hello! One question: Depecher has a very clever way of "auto-cleaning" the downloaded data after a few days, so that it never weight so much as an app... Did you ever look into that feature?

Thanks for your efforts! As already mentionned in the comments, Jolla Store compliance would be totally great, it would be very nice to be able to recommand the app to non "power"users", since they could have access to it the simplest way from Jolla Store...

WerkWolf's picture

With 0.5 you can now switch on the built-in storage optimizer via settings (for details see https://core.telegram.org/tdlib/docs/classtd_1_1td__api_1_1tdlib_paramet... and https://github.com/tdlib/td/issues/667) We will probably improve storage handling even more in the future.

yusssufff's picture

exellent, great work, thanks a lot for it!

Firefox84's picture

Yeah, a cooperation and fusion of both Yottagram and Fernschreiber would be great, so all the best functions would be brought together :) Thanks!

WerkWolf's picture

We've diverged a big, both from an architecture and especially from a UX/UI perspective. As you could see with the animated stickers feature which could be taken over by Yottagram, some things might be shared wherever it makes sense. I'm pretty sure there will also be other opportunities which Fernschreiber can learn from Yottagram. As long as both are maintained, users have choice and that's good. :)

glanternier's picture

Great app! You should definitely add it to the Jolla store :-)

mshigorin's picture

Danke sehr, works *much* better than depecher (even if that client did help me to actually register when the friends asked me to). Did you consider putting it into Jolla Store?
Привет из Москвы :-)

PS: ah, guess it's really a FAQ ("current store rules do not allow this").

WerkWolf's picture

Yep, but we've come down to one issue with respect to Jolla Store/Harbour rules. Let's see if it can be fixed as well...

Firefox84's picture

Really nice, yes we need the check marks and for me stickers work but normal emojis don't. Please add those two functionalities then your app is by far perfect :)

WerkWolf's picture

Could you maybe attach a screenshot of the malfunctioning emojis? Moreover, what do you mean with check marks?

chris7chris's picture

Cool! Thanks for the update!

yusssufff's picture

Hey! First thanks a lot for your volunteered hard work!!!

It would be really great if on the main "chats page" (where you see the list of all open chats) there could be an indication if the last message sent has been opened by the destinatory person or not! In the official Telegram Android app OR on Depecher's Sailfish app is translates in showing one or two check signs such as: √ or √√ on the main chat's page. In Fernschreiber i guess you could use the "blue or green check box" such as the one inside chats...

I guess feature requests better be posted on github...Sorry i dont have account there...

Greetings and thanks!

WerkWolf's picture

Yep, good point - added as feature request: https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues/152

yusssufff's picture

Great! Thanks a lot!

Oh bythway do you have any clue why sending messages takes now much longer to get confirmed after the 0.4 update? Any message i send now stays with 'little clock' for maybe 15 seconds and get the 'blue tick' much later than it did in the 0.3 version....

Is that something to do with a different protocol of getting/sending information to TDlib that would make sending-recieving infos slower?

Greetings and thanks!

WerkWolf's picture

Might be a race condition... At least on my normal device, the tiny little change https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/commit/7d78a2f1269e3... fixed will. Will take a look at it in detail until the next release.

yusssufff's picture

Great to hear!

Thanks for the commitment and the hard work!

Hey Jungs, I'm a german speaker too (although not german myself), but how are all the others supposed to participate in the discussion?
After all, this is not a Germany only related app. Bitte um Kollegialität.
Danke im Voraus! :)

Klaas's picture

Because of many problems with the latest update (3.4) I brought my phone to factory settings. So I had to remove all apps. Now I am on Torronsuo (3.2). Unfortunately it is impossible to install Fernschreiber. Not from the website, not from Storeman. The installing process keeps turning. Telegra'me however works. What is going on? How to solve?

slava's picture

Even though tdlib and the app itself compile just fine against 3.2, the recently introduced support for animated stickers added dependency on rlottie which doesn't compile (C++ class libraries/headers are not fresh enough in 3.2). Meaning that 3.4 is a hard requirement from now on.

In theory, it might be possible to build a separate 3.2 compatible version without animated stickers, but I very much doubt that the author would do that.

velox's picture

Quick addition: It builds fine on the 3.3 target, as well.

slava's picture

That's right, it does. 3.3 is the requirement then.

glanternier's picture

This app is great! Will you add it the Jolla store?

velox's picture

At the moment, it is not quite compatible with Jolla Store rules and there are a lot of things with higher priority. I'm sure it'll at least get discussed a bit further at some point, though.

mshigorin's picture

Hope it does get there some day.

rdomschk's picture

Danke!
