Say hello to Zaster Banker, your mobile banking app!
Zaster Banker currently supports (mostly German) banks which use the FinTS/HBCI API - fast and easy-to-use!

  • Search-as-you-type for your bank: No complex searching for backend API URLs, your bank ID (BLZ) or other things. Just use your bank's name (or only parts of it), select your bank from the search results and Zaster Banker automatically finds all parameters for you automatically.
  • Balances for Accounts and Portfolios: See the balances of your accounts and portfolios at one glance
  • Transaction Details: Access all transaction details of last few months in a easy-to-use list

IMPORTANT: Due to the new PSD2 regulatations it might be possible that signing in to your account is currently not possible. Testing wasn't possible before, but now as the final behavior is online, an update can be worked on. Stay tuned!

Zaster Banker is and will remain Open Source Software. However, in order to support the development of Zaster Banker, we'd like to ask you for a contribution - you could also call it royalty - before you can run it after a trial period of 14 days. Such a contribution can be made by translating Zaster Banker to another language, help developing it or simply by purchasing a key from

As mentioned, you have a testing period of 14 days after the first run of Zaster Banker. Take your time to test the application and ensure that it fulfills your needs and that you really like it. There are no limitations to the software during this time - simply press the button "Continue Testing" on the initial screen.

If you decide to purchase a contribution key in order to keep on using Zaster Banker beyond the testing period, please choose a contribution type. You have the choice between 4 different contributions: S, M, L, XL. No matter which size you choose, the purchased key will unlock the the complete application after the trial period. It's up to you to decide how much the app is worth to you.

Moreover, feedback about Zaster Banker is always appreciated (good, bad, improvement/feature ideas etc.).

As mentioned, you can contribute with a translation, a new feature or even a bugfix. The sources are on GitHub at Please acknowledge the GNU GPLv3 before contributing/forking. Thanks to all contributors!

Hey @WerkWolf,
I just bought a license key and I am unable to log into my bank account now, even though this worked some months ago.
I am receiving the following error:
'No accounts found! Please check your credentials and if they are not locked. (Error code: internal)'

WerkWolf's picture

Mid September some new regulations related to PSD2 came into effect which caused Zaster to cease working. Update is in progress, until then I need to ask you to stay tuned. See also the comment in the description:

"IMPORTANT: Due to the new PSD2 regulatations it might be possible that signing in to your account is currently not possible. Testing wasn't possible before, but now as the final behavior is online, an update can be worked on. Stay tuned!"

Defunct as of Sep 14th due to new EU payment directive.

Love the idea of this app, but unfortunately dutch banks don't support the api.

objectifnul's picture

Okay. So not for Belgian banks.

objectifnul's picture

Is there a way of checking the compatibility with a specific bank before purchasing a contribution key? Or a list of certified compatible banks?

WerkWolf's picture

Of course. Simply install it and see if your bank works with it - there is a 14 days trial period as for all apps by WerkWolf. One disclaimer though: Only German banks with FinTS/HBCI support will work...

Very nice and clean app.

With v0.2: How to switch between the different accounts on the main pager and after having logged in into the first account?

WerkWolf's picture

You need to open "Settings" via the pulley menu. Improvements to that behavior will come in a later version.

oldsoccer's picture

Thanks. I'll checked the folder harbour-zaster doesn't exit under the folder .config in my case

oldsoccer's picture

I also delete the app and delete all files which I could find with the name zaster. After the new install it goes after I accept right away to the authentication page without the possibility to select my bank. Thanks

oldsoccer's picture

Thanks for your answer, but this directory does not exists on my device. Is there some other file i can delete

Kelmi's picture

File what you are going to delete is hidden file (if first character is "." it's always hidden), you can't see it via filemanager unless you go filemanager settings and enable "hidden files and folders". Also if you want do same via cli/terminal basic "ls" command not shows these hidden files/folders, you must use "ls -a" command to see them. You do not need root priviledges to remove this .config file.

oldsoccer's picture

Hello thanks for the app. I have a question. I downloaded the app and got the key. Now when I start the app it ask me for an authentication, but I never set up a password or a pin. Is there a way to reset the app ? Thanks for you help.

WerkWolf's picture

This authentication is simply the PIN/password of your bank. However, if you want to reset all settings, please remove /home/nemo/.config/harbour-zaster/finTsSetting.conf

My bank (Volksbank) uses FinTS, but my accounts only accessible with keyfiles. Does zaster support key-file bank accounts?

WerkWolf's picture

Unfortunately not, only PIN/TAN is supported.

chris7chris's picture

Thanks for the app.
I'm thinking about buying, but I noticed that my giro account is supported, but I can't check my savings account and Master Card account (all 3 Postbank Berlin). Would be nice if these two would work too.

WerkWolf's picture

For some strange reason, some banks don't support standard account balance queries for all account types. Maybe yours can be supported. Please open a new issue on GitHub and post your logs similar to this one:

need Chinese banks

ziellos's picture

Sounds very promising, thanks for the effort. I will definitely pay for this app if it works with my bank. And that's my issue: after the first (unsuccessful) login attempt I am missing an option to edit or remove the bank account. The only control is the PIN/password field. Am I missing something?

WerkWolf's picture

Such an option will come with one of the next versions - together with multi-bank support. For the time being, please remove the directory /home/nemo/.config/harbour-zaster to get a fresh start. If login still doesn't work, please open an issue with a complete description (which bank, which error message etc.) on GitHub. Thanks!

lispy's picture

That is a great addition. Would love to try it. Could you please make my worries go away and explain why this is trustworthy? I know, I could look at the code, but is it really safe? I am giving my bank credentials to an app of a thirdparty.  Just would love to try it but right now I am still a bit afraid... ;-D

WerkWolf's picture

If it calms you down I can guarantee that your bank credentials are not transmitted to any third party. Zaster Banker directly connects to your bank's given API endpoint via SSL/TLS and only stores your account metadata on your device (see /home/nemo/.config/harbour-zaster). WerkWolf doesn't know anything about that. This metadata (so your bank account number and it's capabilities for API access such as API version number) is encrypted by SimpleCrypt - which is not a strong encryption, but unless sailfish-secrets is stable, it's hard to become better. Maybe there is an option to encrypt that better using libcrypto in the near future. However, the most important thing is that your PIN/password is NEVER stored on your device - it only lives in memory as long as you use the app. That's why you need to enter it each time. Moreover, everything is read-only so far - there is no implementation of any money transfer yet in the software and would anyway require two-factor (TAN) authentication as well.

So, being paranoid myself, I chose that it's totally fine to use it... But in any case, there is always a risk when you use mobile applications and there is no guarantee that you are completely safe. You need to balance the risk/convenience ratio yourself.

Another feature request, if you may. :) Would be nice to see Finnish bank support. Samlink at least has quite a lot of documentation about the payments, transactions, etc. They might require a service agreement with the banks (was mentioned in some of the documents). So not sure how open the API is or if it'll cost anything.

Here's the documentation for Samlink (doesn't cover all Finnish banks, but the one I use ;)) if you want to take a look: Software services

There's also a (bit unmaintained) API for most of the Finnish banks, so might need some testing and probably a fork: FpiAPI Api for making Finnish web payments via a handful of banks and Luottokunta.

WerkWolf's picture

Thanks for the information, highly appreciated! Finland is the 2nd biggest market for Sailfish OS after Germany, so it's quite likely that they will come next, but as already said: No commitments so far... :)

mugshot's picture

Hi, I did some more digging and it seems that the PSD2 is slowly being implemented by different Finnish banks. Here's some data what I could find:

Aktia (unfortunately only in Finnish or Swedish, but doesn't give much information, basically just stay tuned...):

But as a bonus, I bumped in to this Node.js code made by a Finnish software/coding company:

So as a summary, the situation in Finland is quite "random" some banks support the PSD2 and even provide a developer API, some don't. The best approach at this time would be to directly ask from the banks if they have an open API available.

WerkWolf's picture

Wow, great! Thank you very much! And if you ask me: If I lived in a country outside of Germany, one factor in choosing my bank account would be the availability of an open API. Maybe, this will become common for SFOS users in the near future. ;)

mugshot's picture

Seems that there is an open API for a bunch of other banks as well (due to PSD2):

Would be super to see Zaster Banker to support the PSD2 and all the banks that provide the API through that. It does seem that you'd need to develop separate module for at least the PSD2 banks, so I have no idea how much work it woud require.
