Patch: Settings for Messages layout
Adds features to Messages app:
- option to show/hide bubbles
- settings for bubble opacity
- option for press and hold to send message
- shows cover action also on single message cover
- shows an additional cover action in single message view to go back to main page
- option to display contact avatar as the conversation background (thanks Niccco following Coderus's patch) (Yet to be implemented in 3.1.0)
option to swap sides of sent and received messages; i.e. to have received messages on the left and the sent ones on the right(dropped in 3.1.0)option to have date and time for IMs which sets alignments just like SMSes(dropped in 3.1.0)option for context-aware text alignment in message bubbles(dropped in 3.1.0)

Currently available in Chinese (China), Czech, Dutch, Dutch (Belgium), English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish. Thanks translation team!
After applying the patch, restart Settings app and go to Settings > Apps > Messages.
Requires patchamanger

Acknowledged, unfortunately it fails to apply in Patchmanager.
Tested with Patchmanager 3.0.62 and SailfishOS 3.2.0.12 on an Xperia X.

Yes, I agree with lkdhf. And I add that I really liked the difference between sent or recieved message color. Is it possible to restord those feature ? Tks a lot.

The color difference still exists and with this patch you can also choose to disable the bubbles completely.

Hi Alina, can you please re-add the patch to change the message layout, but this time to revert Jolla's change? I'm sure a lot of people, myself included, are used to the old way and would like to keep their own messages on the left and the contact's messages on the right.

I would like to report that some strings in Settings are not translated. These strings are not available to translate on transifex. version 3.1.0

In my case, installing your patch is OK. However, I can't apply your patch in the patchmanager, when I try to do so, I always get a message "Failed to install patch".

This is what happens to me too. I have a new Jolla. The old one died. This is running the latest Sailfish and I cannot install patchmanger nor this patch.

@sandisk79, this is also Patchmanager's error message, if you already have a conflicting Patch installed (as this Patch applies fine along more than 50 other Patches under SFOS 2.1.4.14 on my Jolla 1 phones).
A strategy to determine a conflicting Patch:
This is also the ultimate test, if there is some other reason for it not being applicable.
You may also consult this list of non-conflicting Patches.
