If you are looking for the Harmattan version, click here.

ttrss is a Tiny Tiny RSS Reader App for the Nokia N9 and Jolla smart phone, written using Qt/QML. It uses the Tiny Tiny RSS API.

Note that you absolutely need your own Tiny Tiny RSS Server Application as i can not provide one. Also the API has to be enabled via the webinterface.

If you want to contribute, feel free to use the Issue Tracker, send me a Pull Request or buy me a beer.

If you want to discuss, there is the official Maemo.org Thread.

After marking all articles as read in application and then passing it to background, its cover still shows number (more than zero) of unread articles and refresh button need to be pressed.

Hello Hauke,

Unfortunately, the last version does not save any settings anymore. This occurs on both the Xperia10 and Xperia10-II. There must be a missing authorization?

Ronny

yep, i can confirm. I seem to have mixed up something with sailjail and will look into it. Sorry

ronny_b's picture

Thanks for fixing the problem quickly!
Also, I find the new icons perfect, are much better to recognize!

Ronny

Thanks!

cnlpete's picture

Yep, i just ordered my 10ii too, so the 64bit version will come, no need to worry ;)

ronny_b's picture

Hello Hauke,

TTRSS is still my MOST USED app!!! Is there a possibility to create a 64bit version for the Xperia 10-II?

Thanks a lot, Ronny

Well, thanks for implementing the option to ignore or not the SSL errors.

Couple of days ago I suddenly wasn't able to read anymore the news from my tt-rss server with the Sailfish phone (while on computer it was still ok), unless I was allowing the SSL errors.

Today I had a bit more time to troubleshoot the case and the issue was that recently Let's Encrypt has changed its root cert. I have an (acme) script server-side that regularly refreshes the new certificate for the apache server, but that didn't consider copying the CA (which, honestly, rarely changes), and so ttrss reader actually was failing there.

Hello cnlpete,

It's great that you continue the TTRSS project! I thought it was dead. Is there anything I can do to make you adapt the program to Sailfish-OS-X V3.3?

Under Sailfish-OS-X the colors of photos are always displayed incorrectly. Here a comparison, on the left TTRSS and on the right the original: Farbvergleich.

In addition, since Sailfish-OS 3.x the buttons for the read status and the marking of open messages can no longer be selected. The messages will be marked but the buttons will only flash briefly. This is unfortunately very confusing.

Thanks, Ronny

cnlpete's picture

No its far from dead, but sadly I do have very little time for this project, so updates are rare...

Nevertheless, i can try to fix some of that stuff, or at least look into it. No promises ;)

ronny_b's picture

Okay, I understand! I just have one more question. Where is the function "Mark the above messages as read" in the current version? This was available in the past.

Because of these problems, I switched to the Android version from f-droid a long time ago, although I prefer applications under SFOS.

But don't stress yourself! I'm just totally happy about the sign of life from you! :-)

I think i removed that in favor of the multselect feature (you can long press an item and then select multiple items inorder to mark them read/unread ...)

ALso there is the "mark all loaded as read" feature in the pull down...

thinking about it, i would not know, where to put the "mark above as read" feature. Do you miss this feature this much, or is the multiselect enough?

ronny_b's picture

I actually use this function in the Android app very often. In feeds, where more than 100 messages arrive daily, scrolling through is simply faster than marking each message individually.

I have also gotten used to the "share" function. But that would be more "nice to have".

Can't you put that in the button bar, which appears as soon as I mark a message? Here you could add one or two arrows ↓/↑, which edit all messages starting from the currently selected message.

I just released a new version, you can select any entry and pull down to "mark all above as read".

Also, you can now open up images in a seperate imageview. (you can also hide images in the original view by setting "displayImages" in the settings page). Please let me know if this workaround works for you

eriklundin's picture

Images in the new separate view have correct colours, while in the normal view, red and blue are still swapped.

eriklundin's picture

Oh, I just saw that colours are swapped in the comments view of Storeman as well. It's probably using the same component then. I have only seen this happen in TT-RSS before.

cnlpete's picture

yes, it is a xperia x bug, where images displayed in a webview do not seem to work... thats why i added the new imagevier page, so we can have them shown correctly...

eriklundin's picture

Thanks, that's appreciated! Great app BTW, I have it running all the time.

ronny_b's picture

Now I have not looked here for a few days, you give me a birthday present. What a surprise. Thanks!

Only the option "mark above as read" I had to look for something. I would have preferred to have this option in the overview, but that works as well. Anyway, I'm using your program again now, it's faster than the Android version.

Hi,

thanks for the new version! I especially appreciate bugfix for displaying the title with special chars , however, it is not completely fixed. While it now shows some characters it didn't show before (áéýí...), it still hides others (řěčůšž...).

Could you please have a look at it? Thanks!

cnlpete's picture

thats weird. do you maybe have a feed url for me, where such chars are included? that would help me find the error a little faster.

nodevel's picture

Sure, no problem. Here's one example:

sardaukar's picture

Pretty cool, two feature requests:

1 - moving back and forth in the list should have different animations (it always swipes from the left)

2 - it should be possible to share from the app, instead of having to open the browser, and share from there

cnlpete's picture

2: Is on the list

1: I don't know if i can modify the transition as i am simply replacing the page on the pagestack.

sardaukar's picture

Great app. Not sure if possible, but open in browser should start a new tab and not overwrite the current one.

cnlpete's picture

Sadly i don't think that that is possible. I also often loose my tabs because of this, because i forget to go back after i'm done :(

clovis's picture

using it as my daily rss reader, almost perfect.

Just that i can't mark a category as read, as it wont mark it as read on the ttrss server

If you can also add a refresh option directly on the app ( actually only on the cover app )

Thanks !

check the new version :)
