Atlantic Browser
Atlantic is an alternative web browser for Sailfish OS, built on top of the stock Jolla browser’s UI. It replaces Gecko (Firefox) with WebKit (Safari).
Highlights:
- Built-in ad blocking (from Brave AdBlock engine)
- Built-in Autoconsent Skip (From DuckDuckGo)
- Built-in password manager with autofill
- Frosted-glass UI that follows your ambience and Sailfish theme
- Go back by swiping the address bar
- Support for extensions *
- Sandboxed and with site isolation**
Atlantic only run on SFOS 5.1 +

It's just a cheap AI slop that carried over the entire Jolla Browser UI without a second thought. For example why is the browser tries to install extensions from Mozilla if it's based on WebKit aka Safari?

Like the official browser having a smaller browser tab to reflect the home screen?
The gesture to swipe back on the URL bar?
The home screen, which doesn't exist in Jolla design
The reworked bookmarks that add folders?
The frosted glass background?
The PopUp menu rework, to fully fit on big screens

In 2015, Mozilla announced that the long-standing XUL and XPCOM extension capabilities of Firefox would be replaced with a less-permissive API very similar to Chrome's.[22] This change was enacted in 2017.[23][24] Firefox extensions are now largely compatible with their Chrome counterparts.[25]
Apple was the last major exception to this trend, but support for extensions conforming to the Chrome API was added to Safari for macOS in 2020.[26]
To get extensions using Apple as a source would require reverse engineering the App Store and faking Apple accounts. We could use Google, but it's the same exact issue. Let's not use the most open API aka Mozilla extensions store.
If 800 commits over the span of 6 months and +300€ of servers is a cheap AI slop, then fuck me.

A neat little project - gave it a spin and found it quite heavy and prone to slow down/lockups as the websites were more challenging, but will definitely keep an eye on it and test updates :)

Very intriguing, MeeGo's browser was WebKit based, if memory serves right... Any chance for an armv7hl package? Thanks!

Hello,
Thanks for this new browser, it works very well.
To improve it's usage even more, I've made a pull request to expose user agent and device scale to QML. This is a very tiny change and it would help to make WPEView more useful when embedded directly from QML outside Atlantic Browser. That way it could be used for making small Sailfish QML applications to open a website as a standalone web app. Please review/build into a next update.

Amazing app, for me better than Jolla stock browser. Just a question, because in the stock browser you can push long a link and then open in a new tab. Is this posible anyhow? I really miss this feature. Thanks for bring us this app

Really great work! It's a heavy browser, but it's a beta. I think you can lighter it.
Can you fix the "HOME" button? I have insert custom url in settings for HOME but it continue to link to jolla.com

Jolla C2 with 5.1.0.11, works great! It may be a C2 thing but it can feel a bit laggy and sluggish compared to the default browser, unfortunately, still it has earned top row in app drawer privileges

Fantastic!
Installed on my Jolla C2. Tested vg.no and it seems to show it correctly. The built in browser has huge problems rendering the front page.

I still have problems with heavy pages locking the browser and making it impossible to scroll.
