Atlantic Browser (Beta)

Atlantic is an alternative web browser for Sailfish OS, built on the stock Jolla browser's UI.

The stock browser renders pages with Gecko (the Firefox engine). Atlantic replaces it with WPE WebKit (the Safari engine)

Highlights:

- Latest WPE WebKit (2.52), tuned and patched for Sailfish OS
- Built-in ad blocking (using Brave rust engine)
- Frosted-glass UI that follows your ambience and Sailfish theme
- Sandboxed like any other Sailfish app (Sailjail)

This is an early beta. It's developed and tested on a single device ( Sony Xperia 10 II )

the main goal of this release is feedback from other devices. If you try it, please report what works and what doesn't (device model + SFOS version) on GitHub or in the comments.

Atlantic only run on SFOS 5.1 +

Disclaimer: I made heavy use of AI in the making of this port.

Source code:
- https://github.com/SpecSierra/atlantic-browser (browser UI, fork of the Jolla browser)
- https://github.com/SpecSierra/atlantic-engine (the WPE WebKit port: patches, build system, packaging)

If folks switch to Sailfish OS to avoid the US megacorporations, why host source code on Microsoft-owned GitHub?

Jolla C2 with 5.1.0.11, works great! It may be a C2 thing but it can feel a bit laggy and sluggish compared to the default browser, unfortunately, still it has earned top row in app drawer privileges

Fantastic!

Installed on my Jolla C2. Tested vg.no and it seems to show it correctly. The built in browser has huge problems rendering the front page.

Looking forward to future updates!!!
