Unfortunately I don't know how to fix this or why this isn't working for you.Try restarting the download until it works. Some videos however can't be downloaded as it seems.Forget that I think I found the issue. Work on a fix in progress.

As you file browser as a common basis LLs Video Player works again.

The package is called qt5-qtdeclarative-import-folderlistmodel
You can install it from the terminal after devel-su with
pkcon install qt5-qtdeclarative-import-folderlistmodel

Why not add qt5-qtdeclarative-import-folderlistmodel as a dependency in the next version rather than install it manually?

Yeah thats a bug. It needs to be a dependency. I did not notice it as it was already installed on my Jolla. Will be fixed in the next version.

Thanks for this great video player, its the best!
However, the last version was a step backwards when it comes to the ability to browse for files. I used to mount my samba shares on my server with sailfishnet. Then I could browse the mkv files from within the video players file browser. But now that is completely gone and I can only pick locally indexed files.
And any other file browser like cargo or other says there is no application to open mkv files (don't know how to set file associations or mime types in sailfish).
So now I can't browse my samba shares anymore inside lls video player. Please please put back the file browser, it was much better than now.

Version 0.7 now has 3 different Browse File Dialogs. Two File Managers(simple & advanced) and the Video Gallery. You can choose the one to use in the settings. By default the advanced one is used. (looks like the one before 0.6)

Yes I agree.
It was a quick fix for the Update 9 of Jollas SailfishOS which made the file browser useless. I am eager to integrate a new file browser in the next version but this might take its time as I fear I have to rewrite it or use some other components for this.
If you are still running on Update 8 or the Sailfish OS 1.0.x versions you can just simply downgrade to version 0.5 which should work fine for the time being.

works now perfectly with sound!

Great app. Crashes sometimes but if it's all up to Jolla then you have nothing you can do for it now.
For some reason the opening of youtube files from webcat doesn't work for me. It says I'm missing a file. It opens the vplayer but when I try playback it displays the afore mentioned problem.

Did you opened vplayer by clicking the thumbnail in youtube or by clicking the play button in the media bar in webcat ?
The first one might not work anymore since a Sailfish update either removed or made some codecs not work. The second one should almost work everytime. However it depends on your network connection and country you live in. Sometimes youtube has restrictions on some videos.

I clicked the "Play video"-line in youtubes mobile version. It takes you to the video player but when I try to play it it says "your Gstreamer is missing a plugin".
And um, I'm prolly being really dumb but what is webcats media bar and how can I use it? :D

Sorry I can't fix that as it does not really have todo with my player but with the gstreamer library sailfish is shipping. The player can only support what sailfishs gstreamer supports. So if they change it or codecs get removed I can't do anything about it.

Hi Leszek
I love your player... and I've borrowed some of your code for the GStreamer stuff for my own app... see TVHeadFish. I noticed that I can't qualify for Harbour, probably for the same reasons as you :)
I've been thinking about the issues with GStreamer crashes etc, and was wondering whether it would be worth looking at using FFmpeg as an alternative. There is a nice project going here:
http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/21829
I was wondering if you wanted to team up a little and work toward something around this. Also, I'd like to work out a way to get my own app into Jolla Store, so that would mean using some alternative to the Sailfish.Media 1.0 library.
I hang out on #jolla and #sailfishos as roboro or goroboro. Ping me sometime and we can chat.

Nice player, but I have had a lot of issues with the app freezing and requiring to kill it. happens mainly when you seek in videos or change the video you are watching.
For a feature request I'd love to see support for subtitles and choosing the audio track.

Freezes are caused by the gstreamer backend used for the player. So the only really media streaming backend is freezing. This can only be fixed by either creating/porting a new media streaming engine or by upgrading to gstreamer 1.0 which jolla hopefully does soon.
So unfortunately I can't fix that.
As for subtitles and audio track choosing it is very much limited to the backend aswell. However theoretically subtitle support could be added manually (by just throwing an overlay ontop of gstreamer video output). But I need to investigate that first before promising anything

The download works great, but it is possible that the App renames the downloaded file (currently only named "download") to the title of the Video?

If you didn't know, the video controls that are showing when the device is upsde-down, are the wide controls, and if you tap fast enough, you can actually get the pulley menu to desynch from the slider, so that it shows when the slider doesn't and vice-versa. Otherwise nice job, although it tends to crash if you jump around the video too much.

The crash problem is basically a gstreamer backend problem. It happens with the gallery app too (which also is based upon gstreamer)
