Fernschreiber is a Telegram client for Salifish OS

Fernschreiber (German for teleprinter, teletypewriter, teletype or TTY) connects you with the Telegram network. It's still in an early development phase, but it already supports many of the most popular features such as:

  • Chat list in order of last received message
  • Two-step authentication
  • Read standard text messages, pictures, videos. animated GIFs, animated and non-animated stickers, voice notes, locations, venues, polls and documents
  • Displays web page previews
  • Send text messages, stickers, reply to messages, attachments: images, videos, documents, polls, voice notes, locations (yes, more to come ;))
  • Edit messages
  • Delete messages
  • Search chats and messages
  • Display sent/read state of messages
  • Notifications
  • Contact support and device contacts synchronization

  • Mute/unmute chats

All fine, bug reports and feature requests are always appreciated. However, please consider posting them on GitHub: https://github.com/Wunderfitz/harbour-fernschreiber/issues

The editing functionality should be fixed now with 0.5.1. The message read signal should work however. Sometimes you need to scroll a little bit so that it's recognized.

Not sure however about the X is writing functionality. Maybe as an option, as I don't really like it...

Hello! One question: Depecher has a very clever way of "auto-cleaning" the downloaded data after a few days, so that it never weight so much as an app... Did you ever look into that feature?

Thanks for your efforts! As already mentionned in the comments, Jolla Store compliance would be totally great, it would be very nice to be able to recommand the app to non "power"users", since they could have access to it the simplest way from Jolla Store...

We've diverged a big, both from an architecture and especially from a UX/UI perspective. As you could see with the animated stickers feature which could be taken over by Yottagram, some things might be shared wherever it makes sense. I'm pretty sure there will also be other opportunities which Fernschreiber can learn from Yottagram. As long as both are maintained, users have choice and that's good. :)

First of all: Thanks for this great app :-)

Probably a very dump question. Can anyone provide a hint how to get new stickers? I only have some funny cherrys but I wasn't able to locate to find new ones (and to find a description on github, here or the sailfish forum).

Thanks in advance for any hint. It feels like the missing information is directly in front of me but I didn't find it.

Really nice, yes we need the check marks and for me stickers work but normal emojis don't. Please add those two functionalities then your app is by far perfect :)

It would be really great if on the main "chats page" (where you see the list of all open chats) there could be an indication if the last message sent has been opened by the destinatory person or not! In the official Telegram Android app OR on Depecher's Sailfish app is translates in showing one or two check signs such as: √ or √√ on the main chat's page. In Fernschreiber i guess you could use the "blue or green check box" such as the one inside chats...

I guess feature requests better be posted on github...Sorry i dont have account there...

Oh bythway do you have any clue why sending messages takes now much longer to get confirmed after the 0.4 update? Any message i send now stays with 'little clock' for maybe 15 seconds and get the 'blue tick' much later than it did in the 0.3 version....

Is that something to do with a different protocol of getting/sending information to TDlib that would make sending-recieving infos slower?

Because of many problems with the latest update (3.4) I brought my phone to factory settings. So I had to remove all apps. Now I am on Torronsuo (3.2). Unfortunately it is impossible to install Fernschreiber. Not from the website, not from Storeman. The installing process keeps turning. Telegra'me however works. What is going on? How to solve?

Even though tdlib and the app itself compile just fine against 3.2, the recently introduced support for animated stickers added dependency on rlottie which doesn't compile (C++ class libraries/headers are not fresh enough in 3.2). Meaning that 3.4 is a hard requirement from now on.

In theory, it might be possible to build a separate 3.2 compatible version without animated stickers, but I very much doubt that the author would do that.

At the moment, it is not quite compatible with Jolla Store rules and there are a lot of things with higher priority. I'm sure it'll at least get discussed a bit further at some point, though.
