Discourse-based forum viewer

Experimental login support (might need restarting the phone after initial install, most forums will complain the browser is too old, but some still work (fdroid, gnome, nixos...), if the message is the browser will soon be not supported then login should work). As every forum has their own options, some things might break when logged in, let me know what's not working on which forum, can try to look into it

IMPORTANT:

As most forums do not have the same policy, as sfos forum, of storing local copies of external images, images uploaded through Discourser never expire, if you accidentally upload an image that contains sensitive data etc, you will need to manually fetch the deletion URL from dconf to get it removed (deleting from forum is not enough as people might get the image url from edit history), to do this in terminal:

dconf list /org/szopin/harbour-discourser/uploads/

This will return a list of timestamps of your uploads, find the one you want removed (probably the biggest number) and then:

dconf read /org/szopin/harbour-discourser/uploads/timestamp

(replace timestamp with numeric value from previous step) This will return an html link like:

Use it to delete the image for good.

If you know of a discourse-based forum missing that would be worth including pls post a comment or raise an issue/PR

The app is qml-only/noarch, so should work on i486 as is

i used these forums that i identified as discourse so far:

https://pixls.us/ - forum on free/open source photography.

https://forum.openwrt.org/

https://forum.manjaro.org/

https://we.incognito.org/

Solus (linux distribution) uses Discourse but it doesn't work if I add the custom adress. Could you check if it works for you and add it to the list? https://discuss.getsol.us/

szopin's picture

Doesn't seem to be Discourse based (or at least they modified it so heavily that neither /top nor /latest works and just returns: The page you requested could not be found. They did mimic the basic discourse colours tho pretty well)

explit's picture

please add: discussion.tindie.com
Or add an option to create and save forums.
Thanks!

What is the difference between this app and SFOS forum viewer?

szopin's picture

You can browse ANY discourse forum (free-form text field coming in next update) with this app, vs only SFOS forum with sfv

carmenfdezb's picture

Ok, thanks for your answer!

szopin's picture

It's under URL option in pulleyMenu if it's not obvious, let me know if you have some discourse based forum worth adding (even with free-text the pre-populated list needs some curating for sure)

carmenfdezb's picture

Wow, this app is very interesting! IMO, it's not obvious what "URL" option do, maybe "Change forum" or something similar is more intuitive
