Kodi is an award-winning free and open source home theater/media center software and entertainment hub for digital media. With its beautiful interface and powerful skinning engine, it's available for Android, BSD, Linux, macOS, iOS and Windows. https://kodi.tv/

Known Issues (some issues only apply to the old version):

  • If you're updating from the old version to the new delete the old configuration (e.g. Settings->Interface->Restore above settings to default or rm -rf ~/.kodi) in order to get UI scaling proper.
  • A mouse cursor shows up in the top left corner. You can disable it by disabling touch and mouse input in Settings (Touch input will still work).
  • Please always close via the GUI option to close kodi. Otherwise kodi will hang and therefore be unable to start up for a while (seconds).
  • The estuary skin can be hard to navigate, switch to the estouchy or other touch skin.
  • Scrolling is somewhat broken, use the slider to scroll (will be fixed soon, as well as touch gestures).
  • LiveTV requires an additional PVR addon. You can find it here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=96773

great app! thanks for having ported it in sailfish os! :-)

I would love to get the pvr client for mythtv. Is there some documentation, how to port?

krnlyng's picture

are there any other addons i can build for kodi? so far i have build and uploaded pvr iptvsimple to talk.maemo.org and should i integrate those addons into the kodi rpm or make a seperate rpm for all the plugins or one rpm for each plugin? convenient would be the last, then i don't always have to update everything and you can choose what you want or not

Nice app! By changing the touch interface and removing the mouse arrow like you said it's perfectly!

Thanks so much for this, runs very smoothly on Fairphone 2 and looks great!

Hi there,

congratulations, very useful and beautiful, massive work!

I have however some issues to play full HD videos with DTS sound. Ok, you may think I am asking too much to the Jolla phone, but these very same videos play smoothly with Lls vPlayer. So I am wondering if Kodi could not be better optimized with some compilation options?

I tried to disable, at least reduce, all post-processing as the settings panel authorize, but still, full HD with DTS sound does not play smoothly. If you have any idea how to fix this, that would just be perfect!

Thanks,

cheers,

Chris.

My Video Player (LLs Video Player) uses gstreamer as backend. Gstreamer plugins on SailfishOS (Jolla Phone + Tablet) uses hardware acceleration by default.

I think they are now on SF 2.0.1 using gstreamer1.0-droid to use the android hal directly to access the gpu. But I am unsure about. Maybe asking a Jolla dev might be a good thing here.

does LLs vPlayer use some video acceleration feature like vaapi?

eatdirt's picture

Hi,

I don't really know, but it uses as a backend gstreamer, which may indeed be accelerated. I'll post a message to its frontpage about it!

thanks

Works as a charm on the phone.

I will try it on the tablet as soon as I get home, it will make the tablet suddenly much more useful.

great app...anyway here are some things i hope will be sorted out...

- another touch friendly skin since even estouchy is harder to navigate and it's quite harder to go back in menues sometimes
- add some friendly way to exit a photo cause at the moment the only way i found to exit a photo is closing kodi
- app is in landcape mode but the phone recognises it in portrait so the app closes swyping from portrait...you should fix this one...
- it woud be nice to select (for example) photos and having directly your photos instead of having to navigate into a folder and so on with other elements

other than that the app is very goog...keep up the good work :)

I'm not the author of this port, but I'd suggest you to read what Kodi is here.

  1. Then install any other skin (there are dozens of them, like ReTouch), what's stopping you?
  2. This is a question for Kodi developers, not the port author.
  3. Agreed, but it's not a major problem.

Thanks for that one. Really great. Another android app to remove...

Thanks a lot for this!

If someone have problems with installing it (on tablet for example):

  • open terminal (or login via ssh)
  • Commands:
    • pkcon refresh
    • pkcon install python
  • now you can install it without a problem :)
