Skiff is a simple web browser for Sailfish OS, built on Servo, the web engine written in Rust. It is a small, independent alternative to the Gecko-based Sailfish Browser, and a way to try Servo on a phone.
Features:
- Pages laid out for mobile, with touch scrolling and tapping
- Typing with the Sailfish keyboard, including word suggestions
- Native pickers for drop-down lists and native alert/confirm/prompt dialogs
- Cookies and site data are kept between sessions
- Pages pause while the app is in the background
- Runs sandboxed (Sailjail) with only the Internet permission
Limitations of this first version:
- Servo is still young: many sites work, some render incompletely or not at all
- One page at a time (no tabs), no downloads, no search from the address bar
- 64-bit ARM (aarch64) phones with Sailfish OS 5.1 or later only
The app needs about 110 MB of space, mostly for the Servo engine.
