Any possible to updating these tools because it needs improving. There is a lot of newer version currently in linux systems.

Sadly no as I don't own a SailfishOS device anymore. Anyway, the spec file (for rpmbuild) is pretty simple ( https://pastebin.com/B9KmcMpb ) and while I'm not sure about that I think I just compiled the sources from https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jaegeuk/f2fs-tools.git without any modifikation. You might read into how to compile it for yourself and how to use the spec file to make a rpm file from that. :)

Is there any documentation on how to use these tools? I have partitioned my SDCard to one big partition f2fs with gparted and one small one for SWAP.

Am looking for a tool that can change the UUID of the f2fs partition as it's very long and sadly mounted via this UUID - I want to change it to something simple.

Any idea?

Thanks for providing this and the f2fs implementation!

There is documentation but not for your use case. This package contains tools for creating, mounting and checking/fixing f2fs partitions.

For changing the UUID: Don't do it, they are unique for a reason. Better create a symlink from /media/sdcard{UUID}/ to ~/sdcard and work from there exclusively.

If you still want to change the UUID: Check if gpartedcan do it. If not probably nobody can but you could read youself into generic tools like blkid... That's all you get from me, from now on you're on your own as I don't support changing UUIDs.

Thanks for the help - I will read into the UUID topic more thoroughly and will try to understand why I should not change the stock UUIDs.

I had my SD Card formatted to exfat under windows first and it gave me a nice XXXX-XXXX looking UUID instead of a damn long one. That's why I wanted to roll back. gparted can't do it for f2fs and I could not find any tool yet that can change it apparently. So for now I'll leave it as it is.

So after digging a little further it seems impossible to change the UUID for f2fs currently. You can specifiy a specific one if you hack together your own mkfs but it still has to be 128bit to be compliant. So shortening like I planned remains improbable. For cosmetics I will follow your tip.
