*UPDATE* - Thanks to a generous Sailfish user I now have a test sailfish arm64 phone so I was able to debug the game on arm64. Turns out there is an upstream limitation with Sailjail that I can't bypass so I'll have to take that up with Jolla support. In the meantime, I have disabled Sailjail which should allow this game to work on any Sailfish phone 4.5+. If it didn't work for you before, please give it a try now. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and bug reports to help track this down in the comment section.

Changelog:

Originally released for iPhone 3, the game has been updated and ported to Sailfish OS with permission from the original developer.

-9 - Fixes bug with final boss causing game to crash (thanks to windes for the report)

-10 - The game now passes harbour validation so I'm hoping it will work for ARM phones inside of sailjail.

-11 - More attempts to fix sailjail by changing SDL initialization process.

-12 - Change application type to try and fix sailjail launching

-13 - Fixed an issue where the Mountie unit's Moose attack wouldn't hit any targets.

-14 - Fixed bug on Shadow Prophecy level 18 that caused the game loop to halt. Removed Sailjail so the game will function on arm64 android phones.

Last release improved things a little for me. The game now starts and I hear the music, but the screen is black. Steps forward, thanks for your efforts!

Sorry for the late reply - missed your message.

I've been working on fixing it but it has been hard without a phone.

I'm feeling pretty good about the latest version -10.

Give that a try and see if it starts now with sailjail.

At least one other user was able to play all the way through the game by disabling sandboxing (sailjail) but my goal is to get it working inside of sailjail.

Did not start on Jolla C2 (5.0.0.78)

Unfortunately I do not actually own a Sailfish phone yet. I ordered one to arrive in September but this was entirely developed on the i386 emulator.

So with that said, I haven't been able to test on an actual ARM phone like yours.

If you're able to provide logs when you attempt to start I might be able to troubleshoot it from that though.

Whoa, how did you port an iPhone game? Is the source code available anywhere?

FixFlare's picture

rewrite in cpp, cpp can run on anything pretty much with enough time and effort.

No source code for the game itself since it is a proprietary game. It was originally sold on the apple app store for $2.99 in like 2009.

I may release the engine source code in the future though since that wasn't part of the original game code.

can the release be obtained from other channels, storeman is too slow

Are you downloading from China? Any recommendations for hosting that works well for you from there?

Curious, what kind of download speeds do you get from storeman?
