Could it be possible to fast track stable updates like this one (not too experimental) to jolla store's version?

That would be great. I know many people who use your app from jolla store and wo would love to benefit small or big improvements, as far as they are stable...

rob_k's picture

The search on Apple is great. Thank you!

hello, on my xperia xa2 and xperia 10 the podcatcher does not find any podcasts which i can find well on my xperia x. anyone else?

yusssufff's picture

Hi! Thanks for the nice app! I just am faced with the fact that its very jolty to scroll down a long list of podcasts (on xa2, 32bits)... Feels very unsmooth... is there any plan to improve smoothness?  Also export as OPML would be great.  Greetings and thanks.

I cannot download to SD card. I get the error message SD card not available. Although I have access to the sd card via file browser.

Carolus's picture

Under which path is your SD card mounted? Currently the card is searched at /run/media/username and /media/sdcard.

And is it possible to add another source of podcasts? Dutch public broadcasting: https://podcast.npo.nl/

rob_k's picture

The built-in player is awesome! Promising update. Will you create an aarch64 version too? (Please?)

rob_k's picture

Thanks, love this app! The version for X10ii cannot find the Jolla Mediaplayer though, claims it was not installed!?

Carolus's picture

That is due to SailJail. Just select the option system default player, which should usually be the jolla-mediaplayer. Or use the inbuilt one.

yusssufff's picture

it would be wonderfull to get an updated podcatcher in the jolla store... even if not as fully fledged as the openrepos version...

attah's picture

Hi! Please add a aarch64 package for us Xperia 10 II hipsters.

(It compiles and works without modification)

Carolus's picture

Hi!

I added the aarch64 rpm. I hope it works, as I dindn't test it.

attah's picture

That was quick! Thanks!

Tested, and working.

Bramba's picture

Just out of curiosity: What is the advantage of Podcatcher 2.0 over gPodder? :-)

apozaf's picture

Nicer UI, no import export

yusssufff's picture

thank you for this app!

do you think in relatively close future an updated version can find its way to the jolla store?

Carolus's picture

In order to get the app into the official store a have to kill  some features of the palyer, which use functions that are not allowed there e.g. the control buttons on the lock screen.

Bruhna's picture

C O O L, thank you.

Historyscholar's picture

I can not see chinese translation now.

Carolus's picture

Thanks for your comment. I uploaded a new build, with a hopefully fixed Chinese translation.

Since in the meantime I updated to SFOS 3.3, I now managed to try 1.9.4 (crashing a lot, when refreshing all subscriptions and when downloading longer episodes). Today, I also tried 1.9.5-1 with the debug stuff. Not a single crash when downloading episodes.

However, it still crashes when refreshing all subscriptions. That seems to be because my phone is running out of memory. Just before it crashes, "harbour-podcatcher" process is using 999520 MB RAM (the RES column in top), and more than 1.3 GB VIRT, or 36.5% of RAM. The last lines it outputs to the terminal contain something about dconf_shm_open and "Cannot allocate memory".

Even when using it "normally", it is usually the most memory hungry process on my phone.

Carolus's picture

Have eyou tried the newest version (1.9.6) with the new parser. Does it still crash?

piwei's picture

1.9.6 still crashes when refreshing all subscriptions. Probably due to missing memory. Shortly before it crashes I see that it uses 30% of all RAM (watching in top in the Terminal).

Downloading or refreshing individual subscriptions does not crash any more for me. Unless the app was open for a long time and I open another podcast listing which apparently then requests a lot of RAM again. Then it might crash on me.

objectifnul's picture

Could not install: what does this mean?
Une erreur s'est produite
File './drpms/audioflingerglue-0.0.13-1.9.1.jolla_0.0.13_1.9.2' not found on medium ‘https://store-repository.jolla.com/releases/3.2.1.20/jolla-hw/adaptation...'
Note: I did not upgrade to 3.3.0.16 yet. Waiting for massive approval ;-)

sdiconov's picture

No. I got the same issue.

piwei's picture

Thanks for the new features in the betas, they are nice and seem to work well. The internal play could use a bigger font for the timing info, but that is a minor issue.

However, I tried 1.9.2 for two days but it was awfully unstable. In addition to crashing shortly after starting to refresh the episodes of all subscriptions it also crashes just before finishing the download of an episode. So I went back to the version from the Jolla store (1.1.25) which only has the first problem, and which I can work around. Is the download-episode crash just my problem?

Carolus's picture

I could not locate the source of the crashes. But the fresh build with some other changes seems to be stable, at least for me.

Carolus's picture

There are still some crashes while downloading. The backtraces look like there may be something broken inside QT/ QML.

piwei's picture

[I saw your replies only now, somehow the email notification of this forum doesn't seem to work...]

Thanks for the info. Despite remaining crashes I wanted to try the new version (1.9.4-1) again but got an error while trying to install. From the terminal I got a message about missing libstdc++.so.6(CXXABI_1.3.9). That isn't what I got for v1.9.2. Has something changed?
