After latest Sailfish OS update (4.4.0.58) Tint Overlay does not start anymore. Any fix would be welcome, or any link to a documentation about how to compile this app for Sailfish Os so maybe I can do it myself (I'm familiar with C++/Qt/Qml dev, but not familiar to Saifish Os cross compilation stuff)

nope, does not work - closes immediately.
someone forked it - See: https://openrepos.net/content/arustg/nightish
Does also not work on 4.4.0...
Apparrently, one has to add this:
[X-Sailjail]
Sandboxing=Disabled
in /usr/share/applications/harbour-tint-overlay.desktop to work again.
I can confirm to get it working again with this

Looks like the alpha setting has no effect with Xperia X. Maybe hardware dependent?

Just what I needed when using my phone in the bed, in the dark, late at night, before sleep. Which I really shouldn't do but I do.
Thank you!!

I can confirm this (armv7hl version). The same RPM version on OBS (http://repo.merproject.org/obs/home:/coderus:/2.1/sailfishos_armv7hl_2.1...) works fine on the other hand, so you could use that one for now.

I can tell you this is exactly same file, so you do please pkcon refresh as usually and it will ~~~***MAGICALLY**~~~ solve all your problems!

They have indeed the same md5sum, so they must be the same. Not sure why the openrepo version did not work at first (did not save the startup error/crash messages). Can't imagine it was 'pkcon refresh' related, there where no dependency issues and it installed fine.
But I withdraw my finding, the rpm is just fine!

That's it, /var/log/zypp/history tells me 0.1.1-1 was installed. No idea why 1.0.0-10.7.1 was not pulled.
Glad it is all sorted out :-)

Doesn't work yet on 2.1.0/Iijoki - probably needs adaptation to all the new qt groundwork.

hello sir coderus, is it possible to increase alpha limit more so that the screen could be made even dimmer? If not, is there any possibility to have more than one overlays so that like 2x128Alpha makes the screen even dimmer since the second overlay should dim the first overlay treating it as the first screen. Any way to have more dimming? plz do tell sir, thank you.

Is it possible to get a daemon and eventsview toggle and slider for this?
Maybe even program logic to follow brightness sensor readings by user set margins?
Awesome and Necessary as usual.

Cheers!

Thank you for this utility. One my idea: start/stop button on cover.
