BarWal in a way is a continuation of ClubCode, as extending ClubCode is not easy to do and the data storage system is not very flexible.

BarWal (Barcode Wallet) makes use of groups to get more structure in the codes collection. It uses zint (available in my repo) for generating all the code images.

Zint supports a lot of codes:

  • Code 11

As with ClubCode: barcode can be used to scan codes and paste them via the clipboard in BarWal.

Adding custom icons

If you prefer to have more recognizable custom icons in the barcode list (company logo or so), you can add them instead of having a default icon.

Steps to take:

  • Get you icon (png format) ready, normally 128x128p. The height can be less, but the width should be 128 pixels for a proper result.
  • Make sure this image file is exactly named "barwal_icon.png"
  • Upload it to your Pictures (gallery) folder on the SFOS device. You can check if it shows up in the Gallery.
  • Choose edit from your related barcode in BarWal and press the "Import custom icon" button.
  • That should be it, you can now remove this icon image from your gallery once again.

Misunderstanding here: BarWal won't (and in most cases can't) tell what code the string is. So you have to set it yourself. Click on "AP Redirection" (is the first value in the list) and then select your actual barcode that CodeReader said it was.

schmolle's picture

Thank you, nice app! Search function in selection of code type could be useful.

ade's picture

Not sure if it adds a lot now that the list is in alphabetical order. And barcode types like Australia Post are abbreviated to AP, so they won't show up in a search.
But I will take it in consideration.

schmolle's picture

Well, yes, the sorted list makes it way easier to find the needed code type.

Great app. Clubcode was good already. This one is even better and also supports ITF-14. Thanks a lot!

slava's picture

BTW, I posted the latest CodeReader to OpenRepos too under the name BarCode, not so long ago.

ade's picture

thanks for pointing that out, fixed.

maier's picture

The group name is not what i meant. I was writing about the code name. e.g. 2x Website name with desctiption 1x contact and 1x mainpage. I hope i could write it in a way that you understand what i mean.

ade's picture

I wrote "barcode(group)" because it applies to both barcodes and barcode groups.

rob_k's picture

I like it. Thanks!

maier's picture

I entered two entries with the same name but different descriptions .. 2nd entry was not saved also without error information.

ade's picture

That's what I would expect, because the barcode(group) name itself must be unique. But there is no error handling ATM, its om my todo list though.

maier's picture

White backgroud works fine :)

maier's picture

Btw. The icon is very cool)

maier's picture

Thanks) and a search funktion on the entry page (columns) which shows column results first and code resultd following would be a really helpful asset! shrinking results by typing.

ade's picture

Those numbers are the related zint codes, and I use them from the list.

Sorting the list would we the most simple, but I first need to find an alternative for the zint codes in this list.

maier's picture

Hi, thank you looks more friendly than CC. You may add a border to the generatet QR code as it is defined that it is working.

ade's picture

Decided to make the background white. Qr and other codes scan fine now.

ade's picture

Yep, just noticed the same issue myself. Hope to release a fix for this soon.
