Yes of course, but in this case unapplying and even uninstalling the patch isn't sufficient: jolla-settings-system must be reinstalled (jolla phone) and/or version --dup must be performed (xperia x)

I cannot reproduce this observation with Sneak Peek 1.0.0 from Patchmanager's web-catalog on an Xperia X freshly upgraded to SailfishOS 3.2.0.12.

objectifnul's picture

Perhaps a hidden conflict with some other patches I've installed. Anyway I don't feel like trying again, I'm tired of all those "novelties" in 3.2.0.12.

objectifnul's picture

There was an other culprit indeed, with same effect: Schturman's "shutdown screen" patch. Weird.

olf's picture

Thanks, simply unapplying Shutdown screen made Settings -> Display accessible for me again (Xperia X @ SFOS 3.0.3), while Sneak peek from the web-catalog is installed and applied.

@olf Fine. Apparently (unless it's me only?) things aren't that simple with 3.2.0.12. For now I'll keep careful.

coderus's picture

btw, you can unapply patch with patchmanager in commandline, if you didnt know :)

coderus's picture

good report, i can add detection to pm3 and automagically disable all patches if settings broke

objectifnul's picture

In 3.2.0.12, this patch will simply make the settings>display page unavailable, even after uninstall + <version --dup>.

<pkcon install jolla-settings-system --allow-reinstall> required.

Did this occur with an outdated RPM version of this Patch here or the more recent version from Patchmanager's web-catalog?

I am asking, because

  1. Patches from the web-catalog should not interfere with the package management at all.
  2. I see the same effect on an Xperia X with SailfishOS 3.0.3: The display settings are not accessible.
I use the web-catalog version of the Sneak-Peek Patch, hence some other Patch (likely RPM based) may cause this on my device.

But not in 3.1 ?

Still works in 2.1.4.13

Hi, I use this patch on 1.1.9.28 , usually no problem, but sometimes it doesen't work normally. I see when the sceen is turn on when I take out from my pocket but I can't see the time. Someone experienced similar, perhaps? This is just sometimes occurs, but I don't understand why. Idea?

alina's picture

I use another patch to show statusbar on Sneak Peek and have the same issue. In my case I can see the status bar, but not time and date. Seems the problem exists in Sneak Peek itself.

Don't work with sailfish os 1.1.9.28 ,can you fix it?

Schturman's picture

Can't be installed on last sys update (1.1.7.24)
Thanks

pi3141etc's picture

it would be possible to program volume up/down functions for waking up the device?

objectifnul's picture

Could not reinstall, due to a mysterious dependency issue:

Fatal error: nothing provides jolla-settings-system = 0.2.51-10, required by sailfishos-display-sneak-peak-0.0.2-1.noarch

Note: I do have jolla-settings-system-0.2.51-10.49.1.jolla.armv7hl installed.

objectifnul's picture

Reply to myself: installation OK with 0.0.2-2.

Schturman's picture

Not work after last sys update (1.1.6.27).

Thanks

Is it necessary to install something (patch manager?) before installing the Patch?

coderus's picture

sure, you need patchmanager to use patches :)

Schturman's picture

Don't know why, but it not work for me...

I have LPM enabled with:
mcetool --set-low-power-mode=enabled

Now I disabled this and tried to apply with your patch, but it not show me LPM :(

P.S. Yes, refreshed home screen.

coderus's picture

You do not need to refresh anything.

mcetool | grep "low power"
Schturman's picture

Patch applied and here is output:
[nemo@Jolla ~]$ mcetool | grep "low power"
mcetool: E: com.nokia.mce.request.get_memory_level send message: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.29215" (uid=100000 pid=19533 comm="mcetool ") interface="com.nokia.mce.request" member="get_memory_level" error name="(unset)" requested_reply="0" destination="com.nokia.mce" (uid=0 pid=405 comm="/usr/sbin/mce --systemd ")
Use low power mode:            disabled
[nemo@Jolla ~]$

P.S. Also in your description it show "Patch for showing original avatar when calling without glass effect." ;)

coderus's picture

so, patch applied, now go to Settings -> System -> Display and enable Sneak Peak

Schturman's picture

Ohhh sorry, didn't saw this option. For some reasons I was thinking it should be applied automatically after applying patch :)

Thanks

coderus's picture

Did you read description? <<Patch for enabling Sneak Peak (Low power mode) option in Display settings.>>

Schturman's picture

yes, and i didn't see this option immediately after applying this putch. It appeared only after closing system app and opening it again.

coderus's picture

Fine, added this to description :D
