QRScany

Update: QRScany is discontinued since Steffen Förster made a way better app with "CodeReader", downloadable in Jolla Store.
QRScany has just been a temporary solution for me and a few others that needed a native bar code reader.

QRScany is a really simple QR Code Scanner for Sailfish OS, based on QZXing by favoritas. It is just a temporary solution until such a function is included in Sailfish OS.

QZXing is an open source project, developed under the Apache Licence 2.0.

Special Thanks to "Moth" for the icon.

Code Reader from Jolla store doesn't work for me, so I tried to install discontinued QRscany (latest version). Couldn't install it with Yliaavanlampi.
Edit: CodeReader ok after uninstall/reinstall/reboot. Don't ask why.

Wonderful to have this QR scanner in native Sailfish UI! But when I choose 'Open URL', nothing happens. I have both the Jolla browser as Webcat installed.

It would be great to have a menu option 'Copy URL' so I could paste it myself into the browser or into a note.

Thanks for your work!

Ok,now it works. One good thing is,that it's Sailfish native.Sorry to say this: some Android Apps doing a better and faster job, need less lights and less prezice capture.

Very nice app. Not working all the time, but I hope it'll be better during time going.

Works fine! It does what it should do.

Nice clear small App!

Hi, are you planning to add scanning of 2D barcodes ? I was using mBarcode app in my N900 in Work (for MAC adresses for installation), QR codes I will not ever use, so I am asking :) THX

yoktobit's picture

Yep :-) Maybe today or tomorrow, if performance is good enough. As Jolla improves Sailfishs camera components, QRScany will also evolve.

Nice ! :)

Tested 2D barcodes, works good :) for now I have only one suggestion, about light conditions, if we could (rather manually) turn on the LED flashlight during the scan, would be nice :) ...

Working well if it's not too dark... :)

pls tell me if i can help you out with a real sailfish icon... (stylish on my Jolla already ;))

A real Sailfish icon would be cool! I tried it at home but failed (I'm not a good designer) :-P
If you want to, you can mail it to qrscany@yoktobit.de. I'll tell about your help in the about page.

Try to go a little bit back, so that the code takes about 1/2 or 2/3 of the screen. You also need good lighting. The results are not always the best ones, but for me it's better than nothing, so I decided to share it. I'll see if I can improve it when I get the time.
