Dukto (http://www.msec.it/dukto/) is an easy file transfer tool designed for LAN use. It supports many platforms including GNU/Linux, Windows and Mac, Android and BlackBerry 10.

Using it, you can easily send and receive files to/from other users if they also have dukto installed. Therefore, you can use WiFi file transfers instead of bluetooth, which is usually much faster.

Dukto main features are:

  • Simple user interface
  • No server or internet connection needed
  • Zero configuration
  • Clients auto-discovery
  • High speed file transfer
  • Multi-OS native support
  • Multi files and folders transfer
  • Send and receive text snippets (eg. useful for sending URLs)
  • Open received files directly from the application
  • Show your IP addresses on the IP connection page
  • Full Unicode support
  • Metro style UI
  • Free and open source

However, notice that Dukto is not designed for security; don't keep it running or people can send you large amount of data without your confirmation.

This version is compiled from upstream sources with almost no changes. Later versions (if any!) might provide better integration into Harmattan.

Hi can you port your app to sailfish os 2.0 I am using an aqua fish phone.  There is no useful apps with a gui to transfer files into my phone using wifi. If you visit amazon.in,jolla together etc. you will see most people are frustrated as they cannot use apps like shareit, xender which available for android. Android enjoys an user base of 99% penetration in India. Since a good and affordable internet connectivity is a mirage in India people are used to transfer very large files over wifi using a hotspot connection.  I have found an app called sailserver on the jolla store which can share files without consuming data. But it can only send files from device, but cannot receive anything greater than 10mb size limit to it. (which can be received by a Bluetooth,  there is no need of fast file transfer for.transferring a 10mb file)So if you kindly port your app in to those alive but small sucessor of meego, it can change the faith of its limited usage and diminishing value in India.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Unfortunately, no, at least not soon. But it should be easy for anyone to grab the sources and build it for Sailfish OS since it is a standard Qt application (with no MeeGo specific code).

I hope someone will do it soon, but I might do it oneday if nobody does it till then...

Regards,

Hedayat

Great to see this for N9,

but sadly ui on N9 screen is too small, for me nearly unreadable letters.

Thanks. Is it even smaller than what can be seen on my screenshot? For me, it is small but readable.

Hopefully, I'll put some time on it soon. But it won't be sooner than a few weeks.

Hi, thanks for answering

The size of the startscreen is ok, it's the explorer window that opens if you want to browse to a file for sending it.

made a screenshot but think can't add it here...

Ah.. yeah, the folder selection dialog is ugly & hard to use. I might replace it with something better.

You might try running with cleanlooks or plastique styles. It looks better, but I'm not sure if it is larger too.

/opt/dukto/bin/dukto   -style cleanlooks

/opt/dukto/bin/dukto   -style plastique
