What is Maliit?

Maliit provides a flexible and cross-platform input method framework, including a virtual keyboard. It runs on most GNU/Linux distributions and is integrated in all the mobile MeeGo user experiences.

Maliit is an open source project that can also use proprietary plugins.

Currently we are providing Nokia N9 package.

How to install

Note: enable settings - applications - installations - Allows installations from non-Store sources, and then download packages via web browser, so you can install a package from transferred list directly. (without using terminal)

Note: If you have already installed privous anthy and libanhty0 package, 9100h-1maemo2, please remove them via command line as following.

  • launch terminal or ssh login to device
  • run "devel-su" and become root. the default password is "rootme"
  • dpkg -r libanthy0 anthy

 

After installed all packages...

  • reboot (you don't need it if you install 0.1.2 and later version)
  • open Settings - Time and language - Text input
  • click "Installed input methods" menu
  • select and enable "Japanese" input method, and then click "Done"
  • click "Active input method" menu
  • select "Japanese" input method

 

If installation is OK, you can see Japanese VKB.

It would be great if you changed the link to anthy in the description to the lastest version from your repo, because the 1.0.0 throws an error while installing.

I also would like to thank you for backuping packages for Japanese input :)
