Rena - Track recorder
Rena is short of "reittinauhuri" (finnish, meaning track recorder). Rena records your track when you walk, run, cycle or practise any other outdoor activity. It uses positioning capabilities of your phone, ie. GPS and GLONASS in case of Jolla.
Tracks are saved in GPX format for compatibility between various applications and services.

Are you still working on this app? If yes, I would appreciate to browse / zoom the map also while recording.

I am still working on it (every now and then at least). I can make recording map browsable at some point.

I use this app since one week and today, all of sudden, the map appeared!
This is really an amazing app, any possibility to donate?

Currently I'm not accepting donations or any other forms of monetary support.
But thank you for the gesture, I appreciate it!

Very good app, it seems to filter some glitches which is nice!
Waiting for the ability to set the recording interval.

Second try for comment (so sorry if it appears twice finally)
Could there be presets for walk, going by bike etc, which would change good default value for the time to track gps points?
Also, which maps does this use (haven't install yet, and am at indoors right now). Could there be possibility to use open data from Finnish maanmittauslautos, or dhat data combined witj open streetmap data, like in here: http://kartat.hylly.org/
(tried to post ~this earlier, but all it did, was add rating, which is kind of strange :) )

Presets like that could be one way to implement it.
Map used is OpenStreetMap, more precisely standard Mapnik style. Other 'tile map service' based maps might be possible to use if license permits.
Garmin maps from http://kartat.hylly.org/ ? No. More like TMS material from http://kartat.kapsi.fi/ or similar.

Yep, didn't mean Garmin maps exactly, just mentioned that page as an example of combined data from open OSM & maanmittauslaitos (after ll, there isnt street names etc in data from maanmittauslaitos, if I got it right. Sure you use those maps mostly when not in streets anyway). That kartat.kapsi.fi might be the answer then, didn't know about that site.
Keep up the good work!

Hi,
This is a good start and developing fast. How about integrating it with heiaheia.com? Like eCoach on N900 and N9. http://apiwiki.heiaheia.com/

I keep this in mind, perhaps I implement uploading to Heiaheia at some point since they offer open API.

Can you add a option to change the time for the GPS track/points? now its 1 second. By a longer trip its 3, 5, or 10 seconds perfect.

I think it could be added. Track size can get very large after few hours of tracking with 1 second interval.

Cannot remove tracks...?

Not yet within the app. You can just remove similarly named .gpx-file in 'Rena' directory under your home directory.

It doesn't seem to have any fallback in case the app or phone crashes while tracking. If that happens the trace is lost.

Currently track is autosaved if app exits suddenly, but it can't handle (all) crashes. I will look into improving this.

The same discussion has been going on for Maep-qt. The ideas expressed here could work for Rena also: https://openrepos.net/content/dcaliste/maep-qt
