You know how a lot of people hate shorts? They actively block them, avoid them.
More power to them!
I, however, need my daily dose of doomscrolling.
So I am making Kibble! Kibble is a tiny Sailfish app that does one thing: you sign in, you feed the gremlin, and you scroll YouTube Shorts. Fullscreen, vertical, one after another, forever (or until you have to go be a person again). Nothing else gets in the way: no search bar to fall into, no comments to read, no "you might also like". Just the scroll.
What it does:
What it does not do (on purpose):
No search, no comments, no subscriptions to manage, no uploads, no playlists, no downloads.
Notes:
Future ideas:
More optimization and optional extra workers for even more preloading.
A timelimit per day, or a set amount of shorts, maybe?
Cleaner onboarding

- First release. Sign in with the YouTube session already in the Sailfish Browser and doomscroll YouTube Shorts: fullscreen, autoplay, next short preloaded, up to 1080p.
- Feed source picker (For you / Subscriptions / Home), double-tap to like, upload-time + title overlay.
- Reports a short as watched once half of it has played, or when you like it.
- Swiping waits for the next short to be primed, so playback starts instantly.
- Installs and updates its own yt-dlp (shared nightly build in ~/.local/bin).
- Optional PO-token support (Deno + the bgutil provider) in Settings: YouTube sometimes refuses to serve media to a signed-in client without a Proof-of-Origin token.
- Feed de-duplication, watched reporting at half-way or on a like, and swipes gated on the next short being primed.
