A configure file and a systemd service file is included in this package. By default the pdnsd service listens at port 5353 and redirect (and cache the results of) queries to Google and Opendns DNS servers.

Run

# systemctl start pdnsd

to start the service

and

# systemctl enable pdnsd

to make pdnsd start at boot.

Note that you need to redirect (e.g. by iptables) your dns queries to the port that pdnsd is listening at since the default 53 port is used by connman.

---------

pdnsd is a proxy DNS server with permanent caching (the cache contents are written to hard disk on exit) that is designed to cope with unreachable or down DNS servers (for example in dial-in networking).
