Combination of many statusbar patches:

Obviosly these packages were added into spec-file as conflicts, so you should remove them through WareHouse or terminal.

It has user-friendly settings page with translations support. Currently supports these languages:

  • Russian

Why? It's prevents tons of conflicts and now I should update only one patch instead five :D

With the new update the presence indicator seems to be gone. Any hints?

carmenfdezb's picture

The same for me. I use a Xperia X

Ancelad's picture

Sorry, this indicator will work only with Jolla-phones, I don't have Xperia X for correct patching, so I was made some limitations for devices with ports.

Ancelad's picture

What phone do you use?

Vieno's picture

Is it just me or is there a problem with 2.1.2.3 ? It says installed but it isn't.

Thanks Ancelad!

Just486's picture

Please, could you solve the conflicts with Force cover size (or integrate its functionality)? I really need both patches

Ancelad's picture

No.

but you just did it :O Thank you :)

Somehow :)

Hi Ancelad, I get an error when trying to install; "nothing provides lipstick-jolla-home-qt5>=0.34.65.6 needed by patch" - so, it looks like I need to be running the latest EA OS to use this patch, as my lipstick version is 0.34.26.9........are any of the earlier versions working for 2.1.0.11 Iijoki?, I tried the 4th one from the bottom of you listed RPM's but that wouldn't install either - I have no patches applied and my OS install is very recent, so it should be clean - any ideas please dude?

I've made a super patch for homescreen, I would like to try and combine your most popular patches, or at least know that they can work side-by-side (no conflicts for users).

Ancelad's picture

every patch has OS-number in it's name, so every 2.1.0.11-x.rpm is compatible with SFOS 2.1.0.11

Markkyboy's picture

Okay, I thought as much. 2.1.0.11.x installs but fails to apply. 2.1.0.11 is my current OS version. At least I don't get a dependancy warning about 'nothing provides', just failure to apply - which is rather unhelpful from patchamanager point of view.

Ancelad's picture

It seems something wrong with your lipstick-jolla-home-qt5 package, try to reinstall it.

Markkyboy's picture

Spot on, thanks man. A conclusion I would of come to eventually ;)

Better still, your patch doesn't clash with my new patch, if anything , it compliments it nicely.

@Markkyboy, on my Jolla 1 phone all four "Ultimate statusbar patch"-RPMs v2.1.0.11.[1-4] installed flawlessly per Warehouse under SailfishOS 2.1.0.11 (with lipstick v0.34.26.9-10.129.2), the latest one just two days ago.

Checking, that lipstick-jolla-home-qt5 >= 0.34.65.6 is *not* a dependency of this Patch:
[nemo@sfos2.1.0.11 ~]$ rpm -q --requires sailfishos-ultimate-statusbar-patch-2.1.0.11-4.noarch
/bin/sh
/bin/sh
/bin/sh
patchmanager
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
sailfish-version = 2.1.0
[nemo@sfos2.1.0.11 ~]$

German string translations for "Ultimate statusbar patch" on Transifex enhanced and completed.
Also did the German translations for "Devicelock faith text", as it has just a few strings.

Great! Oh, the two volume indicators in the statusbar are looking so good now (picked "musical note" and "loudspeaker"). Thanks a lot.

Two other observations I made, while using "Ultimate statusbar patch":

a. [Usability enhancement]
Issue description: On most devices the true (i.e. audible) volume does not at all scale linearly with the volume setting. E.g. on a Jolla 1 phone the practically usable range of the volume settings is (for me on my phones) between 60% and 90%. Hence it would be very useful to indicate volume settings in this range with the volume icons of "Ultimate statusbar patch", but the highest slider setting for the lower volume threshold (i.e. first slider in both volume threshold settings) is 40%.
Solution: Please raise the highest slider setting for the lower volume threshold for the ringtone and media volume indicators from 40% to 70% or 80%.
Side note: The dynamic scaling of the sliders for the upper volume threshold (i.e. each second slider) according to the selected lower volume threshold, and the dynamic icon preview are so cool! :)

b. [Minor visual issue]
When executing the steps "1. Boot device", "2. Unlock device", "3. Unlock SIM card", "4. Start homescreen", the statusbar becomes visible in 2., necomes *almost* invisible except for the presence indicator (!) in 3., and becomes fully visible in 4. again.
One would expect to see the statusbar continuously throughout steps 2., 3. and 4. If this is not feasible, IMO it would be better to show the presence indicator also dimmed (or whatever happens with the other statusbar icons) in step 3. Maybe it is only the higher contrast of the presence indicator icon (looking at its inactive state), which makes it is visually much more prominent on the SIM-lockscreen. *Edit:* But actually the presence indicator icon rather seems to be displayed inverted (looks as if its 8-bit greyscale values there are: 255 minus <regular greyscale value>) on the SIM-lockscreen, while all other icons in the statusbar on the SIM-lockscreen are unaltered (i.e. displayed as usual).
But if there is no easy fix for this, never mind, as this is a really minor visual flaw.
Setting "Statusbar settings --> Show statusbar on lockscreen" is on, still under SFOS 2.1.0.11 on a Jolla 1.

Kudos to you for this tedious work of perfecting your software.

3. It's PIN-input background-page issue, try to enable "Colored icons in statusbar" and you'll see that statusbar is always there.

olf's picture

As written above, I already realised that the statusbar is always there, but barely visible on the bright background of the SIM-lockscreen.
I was trying to point out, that the presence indicator icon is looking very differently than the rest of the statusbar on the SIM-lockscreen: It is very well visible on the SIM-lockscreen (in contrast to anything else in the statusbar, there).
But as you seem to be sure, that this Patch is doing exactly the same for / with the presence indicator icon as for / with all other statusbar icons, this supposedly is SailfishOS' fault.

And thanks for v2.1.0.11-5, with the maximum lower volume threshold at 70%: Perfect!
Plus, the 5% step size of the media volume slider is really nice. :)

Kudos & many thanks.

Very nice, very usefull. Sail on!

Dear Ancelad,
please provide "Ultimate statusbar patch" with the ability to display the media volume (as an alternative to displaying the ringtone volume) with its volume icon.  The two icon choices already fit well for this purpose, so only the first entry in the settings of "Ultimate statusbar patch" needs to be extended to offer the choice between "Ringtone volume", "Media volume" and no volume icon.
Background: "Volume control settings" by alina already takes care about various aspects if the ringtone volume, including a statusbar icon for it.  Thus one currently has the option to display the ringtone volume in the statusbar twice, but not at all the media volume.

2.1.0.11-3

olf's picture

Thank you for the new, second media volume icon in v2.1.0.11-3, which follows the design style of "emitting sound to the right", which is really nice.
Sorry, if there was a misunderstanding about what has become the new, third ringtone volume icon: This is also looking really good, but I originally suggested it in case you consider moving the loudspeaker icon from the ringtone volume to the media volume (which would have resulted in two icon choices for each volume indicator). So still no loudspeaker icon displaying the media volume for me. ;\
Well, the new media volume icon fits my needs well enough, ...
... but maybe you could fill the third, vacant (e.g. middle) position for the media volume icons with a copy of the loudspeaker icon (from the ringtone volume), so there are three icon choices for both volumes. :)

P.S.: [Small bug] Changing the icon for the media volume indicator does not change the icon in the preview below (i.e. always the round media volume icon is used for the media volume icon preview). In contrast to that this works nicely in the ringtone icon preview for all three icons offered there.

Ancelad's picture

I don't understand you :D

olf's picture

Well, permanent volume indicators (e.g. in the statusbar) are very useful in order to see the current volume settings, without having to enter the action to change a volume setting (e.g. pushing a volume button) to merely look at it.
Background: It happened numerous times to me, that I started speech synthesis ("TTS") under AlienDalvik and the device was (quasi-) silent, because the media volume was accidentally set very low (10% - 30%). As I was not aware of that, each time I wondered why TTS has stopped working, before realising that it was just a low media volume setting, again.

As far as I understand, the ringtone and media volume have separate settings. Both, "Ultimate statusbar patch" and "Volume control settings" allow for embedding a ringtone volume indicator in the statusbar.
Side Note: Even activating both ringtone indicators at the same time works well, then two indicators (side by side in the statusbar) display the same volume setting (for the ringtone) simultaneously.

So it would be much more useful to have the current media volume setting *and* ringtone volume setting indicated in the statusbar, instead of only the latter (although twice, optionally).
As the look of the volume indicator icons of "Ultimate statusbar patch" already fits well for displaying the media volume, my suggestion is to enable "Ultimate statusbar patch" to indicate the media volume (alternatively to the ringtone volume).

Or is it just me misunderstanding ringtone and media volume settings as separate entities (except when muted)? Then I currently fail to comprehend, how they exactly interact (technically and from the users' perspective).

Ancelad's picture

Ok, it seems possible

olf's picture

Thank you so much for v2.1.0.11-2:
The media volume indicator is working well and this function is so useful (to see both, media and ringtone volume, in the statusbar).

Though I would still love to use your really nice loudspeaker icon for the media volume indicator. Sorry, I really do not want to get on your nerves, but can you please offer a choice between the new (round) media volume icon (which very nicely follows the design style of the round ringtone volume icon) and the loudspeaker icon (unchanged from the one, which is offered as an alternative ringtone volume icon): I.e. exactly the same settings layout and symbol choices for the ringtone and media volume indicators, only the round icons are different for ringtone and media volume.
*Edit:* If you want two different alternative (second) icons for ringtone and media volume, you may consider using the nice "sounding musical note" from "Volume control settings" as the alternative *ringtone* icon.
Background: While your two round symbols look very nicely next to each other in the statusbar (as they share the same design style), I prefer the "musical note" symbol from "Volume control settings" for ringtone volume, to which your beautiful loudspeaker symbol fits much better (if one could use it for the media volume), visually.

Please note, quoting from "Force cover size" conflicts with "Ultimate statusbar patch":

Oops, still have an entry "Application switcher" in the SFOS settings with "Ultimate statusbar patch", where one can force the cover sizes. [...]
Looks like the integration of this functionality was forgotten to be mentioned on the OpenRepos page of "Ultimate statusbar patch". [...]

Or am I mixing things up in confusion?

*Edit* Obviously I am (quoting from there, again):
Ah, after a reboot the entry "Application switcher" in the SFOS settings is gone.  Obviously I forgot to restart Lipstick or so.
Thus I am back to the original question:
Why do these two Patches have to conflict at all?

Well, I have an idea, as stated there in Edit 3.
