Your rating: None Average: 5 (5 votes)

Combination of many statusbar patches:

Obviosly these packages were added into spec-file as conflicts, so you should remove them through WareHouse or terminal.

It has user-friendly settings page with translations support. Currently supports these languages:

  • Russian
  • English

Why? It's prevents tons of conflicts and now I should update only one patch instead five :D

Donations are welcome :)

Dear Ancelad,
please provide "Ultimate statusbar patch" with the ability to display the media volume (as an alternative to displaying the ringtone volume) with its volume icon.  The two icon choices already fit well for this purpose, so only the first entry in the settings of "Ultimate statusbar patch" needs to be extended to offer the choice between "Ringtone volume", "Media volume" and no volume icon.
Background: "Volume control settings" by alina already takes care about various aspects if the ringtone volume, including a statusbar icon for it.  Thus one currently has the option to display the ringtone volume in the statusbar twice, but not at all the media volume.

I don't understand you :D

Well, permanent volume indicators (e.g. in the statusbar) are very useful in order to see the current volume settings, without having to enter the action to change a volume setting (e.g. pushing a volume button) to merely look at it.
Background: It happened numerous times to me, that I started speech synthesis ("TTS") under AlienDalvik and the device was (quasi-) silent, because the media volume was accidentally set very low (10% - 30%). As I was not aware of that, each time I wondered why TTS has stopped working, before realising that it was just a low media volume setting, again.

As far as I understand, the ringtone and media volume have separate settings. Both, "Ultimate statusbar patch" and "Volume control settings" allow for embedding a ringtone volume indicator in the statusbar.
Side Note: Even activating both ringtone indicators at the same time works well, then two indicators (side by side in the statusbar) display the same volume setting (for the ringtone) simultaneously.

So it would be much more useful to have the current media volume setting *and* ringtone volume setting indicated in the statusbar, instead of only the latter (although twice, optionally).
As the look of the volume indicator icons of "Ultimate statusbar patch" already fits well for displaying the media volume, my suggestion is to enable "Ultimate statusbar patch" to indicate the media volume (alternatively to the ringtone volume).

Or is it just me misunderstanding ringtone and media volume settings as separate entities (except when muted)? Then I currently fail to comprehend, how they exactly interact (technically and from the users' perspective).

Ok, it seems possible

Please note, quoting from "Force cover size" conflicts with "Ultimate statusbar patch":

Oops, still have an entry "Application switcher" in the SFOS settings with "Ultimate statusbar patch", where one can force the cover sizes. [...]
Looks like the integration of this functionality was forgotten to be mentioned on the OpenRepos page of "Ultimate statusbar patch". [...]

Or am I mixing things up in confusion?

*Edit* Obviously I am (quoting from there, again):
Ah, after a reboot the entry "Application switcher" in the SFOS settings is gone.  Obviously I forgot to restart Lipstick or so.
Thus I am back to the original question:
Why do these two Patches have to conflict at all?

Well, I have an idea, as stated there in Edit 3.

Ancelad's picture

The answer is easy - patches use the same file or the same code-section, which can't be overlapped by another patch.

Thanks, this is what I suspected. So IMHO, "Force cover size" should avoid that, as patching the statusbar is not the primary purpose of that Patch. I am trying to address this to Eugenio.

Ancelad's picture

goldenm's picture

Thanks, works 100%!

giskard's picture

...also, the Italian translation is ready :)

Ancelad's picture

Thanks! Web-release is ready, I will upload it asap (in 1-2 days)

giskard's picture

I can't find it in the web catalog. Is it visible only if you have Sailfish OS 2.1.0.9?

Ancelad's picture

It doesn't available from web-catalog, because it has some unresolved problems with some SFOS-ports.

giskard's picture

I don't know if you alredy merged the translations. I did some little fixes a couple of minutes ago.

giskard's picture

Is it possible to add this patch to the web catalog of Patchmanager 2.0?

atlochowski's picture

You can already add Polish, Sapanish and German from transifex

Done, thanks

Just one more thing what I noticed a few days ago, I am using this patch + Less home animations patch, and one feature is not working together, Show date when peaking. I asked Cornerman to do it compatible with this feature but he couldn't because he said not enough space to show the date between the running apps and the statusbar without the zooming animation. So I am asking you, could you make it compatible with that patch somehow? It would be good, because this feature and also the other patch are useful :) . Thanks a lot!

Ancelad's picture

Currently - no

Ancelad's picture

It is impossible without patches merging.

gedeon's picture

And you did it again! Perfect job, master.

gedeon's picture

Hmm, ok, so I hope a perfect future... , until then I try to enjoy the present! :)

naytsyrhc's picture

Since last update of your patch I have problems applying it on 2.0.4.14. Is this a known issue? How can I help?

Ancelad's picture

Try to disable another statusbar or homescreen patches

naytsyrhc's picture

Ok, after some tries I found out that this patch now seems to conflict with "always force large covers" patch. I think, this is new, as I had both patches applied together before. Is there a way to fix that? Thx.
